  • Editorial Cartoon: Mel Gibson loses it

It seems Mel Gibson’s mouth is its own Lethal Weapon.  He played an incredibly convincing guy that was on the edge of sanity along with his cop partner played by Danny Glover.  But the real Gibson seems more off his rocker than the character Riggs.

In 2006, an inebriated Mel went off on a cop in an antisemitic rant.  Gibson apologized and blamed alcoholism on the remarks.  The public forgave him and in a poll only 6% said they would not see him in a future movie.

Well now it seems, he has done it again.  In taped conversations, Gibson is heard telling baby mama Oksana:

“You look like a f—ing pig in heat, and if you get raped by a pack of n—-rs, it will be your fault.”

Will those who rushed to defend him three years ago be back?  Will other’s jump on the bandwagon to call for his excommunication from the Hollywood community?  Thoughts?

  • Editorial Cartoon: .XXX Marks the Spot

So it looks like all of us looking for photos of the White House on the web who accidentally went to .com instead of .gov are saved.  A new domain extension is in the works that will end in .xxx and be specific to adult oriented sites.

One one hand you have the adult industry against it because they feel it will ghettoize porn on the web.  On the other you have conservative groups against it because they feel it will legitimize porn on the web.  But one of the funniest arguments I have seen is that the practice will actually make it easier for kids to find porn on the web.  As if kids had trouble in the past.

  • Editorial Cartoon: BP’s New Marketing Strategy

Bearman Cartoon BP Tuna in an oil Can

I’M BACK!!!  After a much deserved break, I am making my triumphant return today.  Thanks again to all my guest cartoonists and commenters who kept things going in my absence.

  • Editorial Cartoon: The Gore’s Divorce

Bearman Cartoon - Al and Tipper Gore Divorce

It was shocking last week to learn that after 40 years, former Vice President Al Gore and his wife Tipper were finally calling it quits.  It just goes to show, you never know what people are going through.

For the uninformed, since leaving office, Al has become the Poster Boy for Global Warming and back in the 80’s when Al was just a senator, his wife Tipper headed up the Parent’s Music Resource Center (PMRC).   Ultimately, their fight led to warning stickers on records and a Capitol Hill showdown with rockers including Dee Snyder of Twisted Sister.

  • Editorial Cartoon: Fergie on Oprah

Fergie apologizes on Oprah Editorial Cartoon

Every once in a while I have to throw my many overseas fans a bone and do a cartoon that the Americans don’t get.  It seems like former Princess and the original Fergie has gotten into hot water lately for trying to sell access to her ex husband in exchange for cash.

On the bright note there are things she won’t do for cash.  Like sleep with a Saudi millionaire in exchange for $3 Million.  The question is why come on Oprah for your mea culpa.  True Oprah is the queen of tv but Americans really could care less.  The people she needs to apologize to are the loyal subjects of her Majesty who help foot the bill for her alimony.

BTW…sorry for the terrible caricature of Fergie.  Some people I just can’t do.  But my Oprah ain’t bad.

  • Bearman Cartoon: Bristol Palin’s Speaking Fees

Bearman Cartoon on Bristol Palin and her Speaking Engagements

I am a firm believer in allowing private family members of public figures to be removed from public scrutiny.  That is UNTIL they themselves decide to become a public figure.   It was announced last week that Bristol Palin (daughter of former Vice Presidential candidate Sarah Palin) is going on the speakers tour to talk about “don’t screw up and have a kid like I did as a teenager”.

Reports are that she will get between $15-30,000 per speech.  That really busts my chops.  Why weren’t my parents more popular?  My life could be so much easier.

  • Bearman Cartoon: Where’s George

Bearman Cartoon of George Bush lying on Beach as Obama Takes a Beating in the Press

Noel Curry of DJ Bogtrotter fame had a challenge to cartoonists to do a cartoon without dialogue.  He designated May 14 as Dialogue Free Comic Day.  This is what I originally planned to post as he said dialogue on signs, etc was OK.  But I came up with one that may be a little less obvious but fits the entire bill that I will post on Friday.  So that is TWO…count em TWO Dialogue Free Comics for your enjoyment.

Don’t forget the charity challenge.  Click link for how you can help at no cost to you.

  • Bearman Cartoon – Wind Farm

Bearman Cartoon Wind Farm Hazard for Birds

With the oil spill heading toward the coastline of Louisiana, the call for expansion of wind farms and the use of them as alternate energy streams already is getting loud.   Careful jumping in with both feet…especially if you are a bird.

UPDATE:  Check out the guest cartoon I did for Carlo Jose San Juan at Callous Comics.  Story of Riann Nicah a newly practicing physician.  Some get guardian angels; well she ended up with Cal, a guardian duck who is as new to the guardian position as Riann is to the medical field.   Great thing is, Carlo’s day job is a real physician specializing in nuclear medicine.  So not only does he shame me in the drawing world, he shames me in the real world too.

And thank you Carlo for the mention of my charity challenge.  Want to get involved too?  Please click the pic below to find out how you can help with no cost to you.

  • Editorial Cartoon – Toyota Prius Acceleration Problems

In the market for a new car?  This is a great time to buy a used Toyota and especially a Prius.  Sudden acceleration problems have been blamed in over 100 different crashes.   But it seems people are blaming Toyota for their accidents, even when it is driver error

So now, if you are the owner of one of these gems, you have a window of opportunity to blame Toyota for your crash, even if your dumbass shouldn’t be behind the wheel of a car in the first place.

  • Editorial Cartoon – Healthcare Costs

If Buying Healtcare were like Buying a diamond

So the Healthcare Reform Bill was passed into law today.   Now as Nancy Pelosi said we will finally figure out what was in it.  But I wonder while everyone will now be insurable will it do anything to really lower the cost of healthcare.  And do we as Americans really care?

I put myself in this camp.  If I had a shoulder problem and the doctor suggested a $500+ MRI, I would make a different decision if I was footing the entire bill.  But with insurance, it is a no brainer to pay the $25 copay to get the MRI.

It used to be I would pay my copay to the dentist, he would submit the claim to insurance and they would only pay their negotiated rate.  Well the dentist got wise to that and now he requires I pay the entire bill upfront.  He still submits the claim to insurance but now they send their negotiated rate check to me.  So he gets what he asks for and I get stuck with the leftovers.  All of the sudden I started making different choices for my dental care including asking how much the insurance company would cover for procedures beyond cleaning.   If I feel insurance doesn’t cover enough, I will look at different options including other dentists.

We all want the sports car but only want to pay for the smart car.
