The interesting thing when I put out a call for guest cartoons is that there is always a surprise in my email inbox from someone I had not yet come across. Frank Hansen is a cartoonist and illustrator. He is preparing to launch his own comic in the near future but already has a vast collection of impressive illustrations on his site.
I really love how he is so adept at shading with the pen that he can color an image in just a few colors and it adds some warmth to the illustration. I might have to try that one day but I don’t have the patience he does for many little lines. Astute readers will notice the game Little Bear is playing.
Make sure to check out his work and his blog and give him lots of love here too.
Next up on Thursday isAidan Casserly of Scapula.

Great artwork. I want to know where to get one of those Bearman video games.
Very impressive, Frank! Hilarious expressions and wonderful use of character gesture.
The ‘old-timey’ paper feel gives it that final, great touch.
So it’s X box you;re playing little Bearman 🙂 Might want to try WII Fit ?
Thanks for the compliments and thank you Bearman Cartoons for the letting me submit a cartoon to your extremely cool site.
Excellent work with the colour
Anytime you want to send something…I’d be happy to post. Thanks again.
Whoa! How cool!
Very cool – I really dig the style in this one!
I wonder if they’ve released Bear Man for Wii, too?! 🙂
This is very nice and professional work, Frank. I cannot wait to see what comic frivolity you’re gonna come up with in the near future. You’re building a fan base already. 🙂
And I wish I could see what that Bear Man game really looks like on TV.
Denny needs to work on a guest cartoon for you.
Get on it…maybe you can make yourself a Gravatar while you are at it..haha
Having a video game based on you would be cool. BTW do you collect bear themed stuff?
Neat drawing style, Frank. The little bear is really into his game.
That’s fantastic artwork Frank. I am a raw amateur at cartooning & will be very happy if my cartoons get even half as good as yours in the distant future. As Bearman said the colour & detail you get with your shading is amazing.
Yeah I wanna Bearman game too, but one suitable for Wii.
How do you play it???
I would like to suggest the following controller options;
button A drinks beer
button B eats pizza
joystick left reaches for another beer
joystick right reaches for another slice of pizza
joystick forward belches
joystick backwards farts
shake Wii remote makes him vomit everywhere
Very cool!:)
I’ve been loving the guest cartoons! I haven’t been able to comment on much though, because I never know quite how to comment with guest, unless I know them (it’s not like I can just cuss and stuff about YOUR work) and know what to say.
Who says you can cuss about my work??
I can’t? Damn
wow nice use of colours I likey likey!
ps i added you to my blogroll bearman ol buddy ol pal! 😉
Great…I guess that means I have to make you a banner ad for my links page.
only if u want 🙂 id be eternally grateful 😀
It’s excellent.
This person has a fantastic technique.
I might try this style of drawing myself
I love it. Get him to draw me one too lol.
Frank…draw Chris one too. haha
Thanks again for all the great compliments and views. And Thank you Bearman for letting me be a part of online cartoon universe. Much appreciated. Need to do this again once my webcomic is up. I’ll let you know when.
Definitely…we can’t wait to see it.
I love his style of drawing. Great lines and shading.
Luv luv luv Mama Bear’s dressing gown and the whole poncy proddy ambience.
