The latest editorial cartoon was inspired by the budget issues in my home city of Cincinnati, Ohio. It seems like many cities, the economy is affecting city services. So now there is talk of having to lay off over 100 police officers.
Funny we have a part time city council and yet they continue to take over $60,000 a year in salary. I am sure there would be plenty of people willing to work full time for that kind of pay.

$60,000 for part-time work on a city council? That’s ridiculous. Ah, the wonders of people who legislate their own salaries…
and healthcare.
Who’s gonna protect the council people from the unruly mobs now? I hope they can run fast!
It’s a non issue. I am the only one who questions these things.
That’s horrible that policeman are might be laid off :/
Hopefully they do it by quality not length of time on the force.
Cincinnati has always been ass-backwards. They’re worse than Dayton!
Hey now that’s going too far..haha
So who’s getting laid…sorry I came in half way through the conversation!
Isn’t that your entrance line to every place you go?
Yes ๐
Just checking.
so let me get this straight: bearman’s getting laid for free?? …WHAT!! oh man, igotta go re-read this.. but first,… what a slick move with the hyperlink frrm YnBs…. in the form of art! brilliant and very very nice!!
YNB was jealous b/c you already had fan art.
Have the police lock ’em up for highway robbery!
Na…they are the last to pay parking tickets too.
So much for “public” service. They can probably afford private security on their part-time salaries. Maybe they’ll hire the police-men to protect them from the mob.
The mayor has his own off duty cop..haha
Funny how that works, isn’t it? And so predictable. Brings to mind the healthcare reform bill, and those people who would be exempt from it…
Wait…there are exemptions. You mean I don’t have to pay?
The system is backwards everywhere. Teachers, police, emergency response. They should all be paid very well. Those positions should be sought after and competed for so the public has the best possible protection and education.
What positions are we talking about police and teacher or city council.
Hahaha … yup. That seems about right. ๐
That doesn’t count…you always agree with me..ha j/k
Yeah, it’s the same every where. The very members of Congress/Senate who are against health care reform HAVE insurance… so what’s the problem with the “average” American? Can’t they afford it? Just have a bake sale, it’ll be fine…
I hate politics… ๐
Nice comic Bearman! Someone’s gotta say this stuff!
Thanks B…but if I have a bake sale won’t that be contributing to the diabetic nature and obesity of the world causing a greater toll on the healthcare world?
I’ll gladly swap them my full time job for their part time wages…
City councils never cease to amaze me with the stuff they come up with. Sack 100 cops then they will have to spend more money to have a study into why crime increase. What a bunch of dolts
Me too. I’d I would work full time for it.
