Bearman Cartoon: Obama bows to Emperor
It seems the masses are all in an uproar about President Barack Obama bowing a greeting to Japanese Emperor Akihito. So I have gathered the top 5 reasons Obama did this so you people can get over it. The last reason is todays editorial cartoon.
- He is so tall and Akihito so short, that he HAD to bend down to reach Akihito’s hand.
- He got confused by the famous international etiquette book Kiss, Bow or Shake Hands that he tried to do all three at once.
- He made the Emperor feel superior on purpose. How many of you wouldn’t grovel to someone you want to lend money to you or invest in your business(es)?
- Friday’s basketball game with the White House motor pool caused his back to go out.

Mrs Akihito has pigeon droppings on her shoulders
November 18, 2009 at 8:20 am
She was wearing a kimono with some fancy design on the shoulders. Obviously I am too lazy to try and get it right.

Blahahaha good one Nurse Myra!
November 18, 2009 at 8:59 am
That people are actually on am uproar about this blows my mind, I mean less folks cared when bush one puked at the emeoror!
November 18, 2009 at 9:10 am
But alot of people got on Bush 2 for kissing to Saudi Prince. So it goes both ways and they both need to get over it.
Ha…I totally forgot about Bush 1. Hilarious

I thought it was common Japanese practice to bow while meeting someone. Social standing dictates this rule also? This is just as picky as Michelle touching Queen Elizabeth. I would’a given the Emperor some dap and a pound myself and maybe some soul-fist action.
November 18, 2009 at 9:54 am
That’s the point the critics are saying. They says Obama shouldn’t bow lower than the Emperor.
November 18, 2009 at 9:34 am
Having lived in Japan for two years it took me forever to stop friggin bowing. Damn catchy habit
November 18, 2009 at 9:54 am
You can always continue to bow before my greatness.
November 18, 2009 at 7:54 pm
You already know I do Bearman… even if you do have a bloggers ass
November 18, 2009 at 8:09 pm

November 19, 2009 at 1:06 am
How’s aerobics classes treating you?
November 18, 2009 at 10:53 am
I bow when I am about to rip a huge one. It wouldn’t be the same without some theatrics. And, to be fair, I heard that Barry first asked him to pull his finger but he wouldn’t do it.
November 18, 2009 at 6:42 pm
Bow…I thought you tended to lean left or right.
November 18, 2009 at 11:00 am
I think you nailed it in the cartoon. You know what a great sense of humor those Japanese have. I’m no Obama fan but even I think they need to give him some slack.
November 18, 2009 at 6:42 pm
Thanks bo
November 18, 2009 at 11:52 am
A nice sucker punch to the groin always gives the illusion of a proper bow, no?!?
November 18, 2009 at 6:42 pm
Not for me. I wouldn’t be bowing. I would be curled up in a fetal position with tears in my eyes.
November 18, 2009 at 11:54 am
Bowing to the current unelected leader of a country you went some way to nuking to oblivion just over 60 years ago seems bizarre, IMHO.
November 18, 2009 at 6:43 pm
What about supplying weapons to countries that 10-20 years later you bomb.
November 18, 2009 at 8:11 pm
touche bearman!
November 18, 2009 at 2:37 pm
Is there ever a time when custom dictates that the chief executive should stick his/her right foot in, stick his/her right foot out, stick his/her right foot in and then … like … shake it all about?! Just curious.
November 18, 2009 at 6:43 pm
Yes…at a wedding of Bidens sons.
November 18, 2009 at 2:44 pm
I can’t see the big deal about all of this. Anyway I am thinking that maybe it wasn’t a bow, maybe he just bent down to whisper in his ear something about nuking them into oblivion again if they try & accuse him of bowing.
November 18, 2009 at 6:44 pm
Number 6!!
November 18, 2009 at 6:50 pm
When in Rome, tie your shoelaces?
November 18, 2009 at 7:10 pm
What about Japan?
November 18, 2009 at 8:13 pm
number 7 of why Obama looked like he was bowing to the emeperor of Japan:
he was checking to see his fly was done up
November 18, 2009 at 9:37 pm
Whose fly???
November 19, 2009 at 12:10 am
his own!
or the other guys. either way
November 18, 2009 at 10:55 pm
I’m not bowing. I’m doubled over in laughter!
November 18, 2009 at 11:24 pm
Oh you are bowing!!! begging for forgiveness for not visiting.
November 19, 2009 at 12:22 am
Yes I am, you got me. I’m sorry. Am I forgiven??
November 19, 2009 at 8:03 am
Of course. I have a short memory.
November 19, 2009 at 1:51 pm
I’ve seen her bow…K she just laughed.
“Can you see my bra when I do this?”
Now everyone can join in.
November 18, 2009 at 11:56 pm

November 19, 2009 at 8:02 am

November 19, 2009 at 5:05 am

November 19, 2009 at 9:00 am
HAHA! Hilarious Bearman…
I would have just high-fived him. Seriously, who doesn’t love a high-five?
November 19, 2009 at 1:52 pm
Doesn’t the media have something better to do? Guess not
November 21, 2009 at 1:25 pm
I agree with bschooled. High five and a quick spank on the left cheek… oh, wait, not that, because he would still have to BOW to reach the emperor’s buttocks.
November 19, 2009 at 8:04 am
Fine except I continue to be the only guy who comes to these classes. The meathead bodybuilders just look through the glass and shake their head in shame.
