Bearman Cartoon: Obama bows to Emperor
It seems the masses are all in an uproar about President Barack Obama bowing a greeting to Japanese Emperor Akihito. So I have gathered the top 5 reasons Obama did this so you people can get over it. The last reason is todays editorial cartoon.
- He is so tall and Akihito so short, that he HAD to bend down to reach Akihito’s hand.
- He got confused by the famous international etiquette book Kiss, Bow or Shake Hands that he tried to do all three at once.
- He made the Emperor feel superior on purpose. How many of you wouldn’t grovel to someone you want to lend money to you or invest in your business(es)?
- Friday’s basketball game with the White House motor pool caused his back to go out.

That people are actually on am uproar about this blows my mind, I mean less folks cared when bush one puked at the emeoror!

I thought it was common Japanese practice to bow while meeting someone. Social standing dictates this rule also? This is just as picky as Michelle touching Queen Elizabeth. I would’a given the Emperor some dap and a pound myself and maybe some soul-fist action.
That’s the point the critics are saying. They says Obama shouldn’t bow lower than the Emperor.

Fine except I continue to be the only guy who comes to these classes. The meathead bodybuilders just look through the glass and shake their head in shame.
I bow when I am about to rip a huge one. It wouldn’t be the same without some theatrics. And, to be fair, I heard that Barry first asked him to pull his finger but he wouldn’t do it.

Bowing to the current unelected leader of a country you went some way to nuking to oblivion just over 60 years ago seems bizarre, IMHO.
