Bearman Cartoon: Why I keep a Home Phone Line
Hat tip to Colleen of Tix Comix who prompted my memory in my last post as to the main reason I keep my home phone line. I lose my cell phone all the time in the house and am always using my home phone line to call it. Sure I can use the locate function on iphones, but then I have to remember how to do it. And what if I lost my cell phone during a power/internet outage?
Oh and look, I used my own handwriting on this one. Now you know why I tend to type text.
Guest Cartoon: Stef Marcinkowski
Stef Marcinkowski of the web graphic novel Sarah Zero, surprised me with this parody send up of Metallica’s album cover from “Master of Puppets”. The original can be found on Wikipedia
Check out Stef’s blogpost that describes his process. FIFTEEN HOURS, yes I said 15 hours to complete this monstrous task. And with an infant crawling around the house too. That is a true Bearmaniac!!
Guest Cartoon Request
Taking some time off the first couple weeks of December so if you are a webcomic artist looking to promote your work this is a great opportunity. I am doing a repeat of my very first guest cartoon request. Since I don’t have regular characters, I want to see you use your characters with a twist. Here is what I am looking for:
- Show us what one of your characters will look like at age 100 OR looked like at age one.
- Single Panel (max 500 pixel width)
- Give me a paragraph that describes your webcomic and who the character is that you have drawn
- Send to me bearmancartoons at yahoo.com
- Submit by November 20.
Need inspiration? Well you can check out the submissions from when I put out the call back in 2009 from George Ford, Dan Long, Byron Wilkins, Warren Frantz, Robert Matejcek aka Spilled Ink, and Nate Fakes
Bearman Classic: Marge Simpson Playboy
Busy week so letting those of you who haven’t been around since the beginning days check out a Bearman retro cartoon.
Back in 2009, Marge Simpson was set to appear in Playboy Magazine. Anything to boost magazine sales huh? Well this was my take on what that centerfold spread might have looked like.
Cartoon You Stink
When I first started this blog, I was all about the number of hits I got. I would check my stats several times a day hoping to see a spike. As I have matured as a blogger, I am more interested in the amount of engagement on my posts rather than pure numbers.
However it doesn’t mean I don’t periodically check out my stats especially when I notice a larger than normal spike.
For whatever reason today I noticed that yesterday I got over 1000 hit spike from Yahoo search engines. I mean no one uses Yahoo search engines anymore so that is huge (haha j/k Yahoo). Seriously though I get little traffic from that source. A little investigation in what the image search term people were using to find my site came up with….
Cartoon You Stink
Now it would be interesting to know if that result was based on something I wrote or whether it was a mistaken snark remark that should have been “Cartoonist, you stink”. My feeling is that 1000 people didn’t actually look for that search term but it was bots instead. Though I don’t know a thing about all that.
What about you. Oddest search term someone has used to find your blog?
