    Bearman Guest Cartoon: Tony McGurk

Up today is Tony McGurk of Life According to Tony.  Tony has only recently released on the world his artistic talent.  I have been following his exploits in Tasmania and of course the exploits of his dog Dixie, but it is only recently Tony has joined the cartooning world.

Such talented spiders.  Not only can they weave a Bearman web but they know the difference between a Bear Maniac and a Bearman-iac.

Keep commenting and spreading the joy.  Next up is Colleen Dick of Tix-Comix

    Beartoons Guest Cartoon: Roland Perez

Today up is Roland Perez of Metal Jaw Comics.  Roland asked for a do-over.  Some of you recall he did this guest cartoon back in June where he spoofed the movie Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead.    He thought many people hadn’t heard of that movie so this time he decided to spoof a classic.  Blades of Glory, starring Will Ferrell and Jon Heder.

Remember to help promote this toon on twitter, etc.  Next up is Tony McGurk of Life According to Tony

    Editorial Cartoon: MJ Cartoonist

Today kicks off Holiday Break 2010 where I will be out of pocket for the next few weeks.

I got such a great response to my call for guest cartoons that I will be posting three days a week for the next two weeks.  Sundays, Tuesdays and Thursdays.  First up is MJ.  MJ is both a fellow editorial cartoonist for the National Free Press and also has his very own strip Welcome to the Jungle (it has nothing to do with the Bengals).

I love how his Christmas lights seem to shine on the page and how the ice has frozen over the edge of the cartoon.  Thanks MJ and here’s hoping I don’t find a “dump of coal” in my fireplace come Christmas morning.

Here is the full list of Guest Cartoons and when they will appear.  As I won’t be around please support all their hard work by leaving comments, visiting their sites and spreading the word on Twitter, Reddit, Facebook etc.

Thur 12/23      MJ of National Free Press

  • Guest Cartoon: Faraday the Blob

Faraday the Blob stars one of those lawn elfs that everyone has around their garden and a blob of green snot.  Well OK neither is really the case, but the toon is too hard to explain (but funny as hell).  So just check it out.

Alan Ryan the mastermind behind Faraday the Blob is on paternity leave.  He just produced a bouncy blob of a boy named Dara.  Being of Irish descent Alan let me know that Dara is an old Irish name that mean Oak Tree.  What he may not know is that in Hebrew it means “pearl of wisdom” and in Persian it means “Wealthy”  So in honor of this future strong, rich and smart lad, I created a guest cartoon for Alan.

    Check out my toon here!

  • Guest Cartoon For Bo Lumpkin

The hardest working man in webcomics, Bo Lumpkin, has burnt himself out trying to manage two different cartoon websites:  bolumpkin.com and Gatorhead.  I love his one shot takes on life that he tends to post on Gatorhead.  It’s stuff you don’t think about but when you read it know it is so true.

So I did a cartoon for him as a placemark while he is on his break.  Check it out.

  • Guest Cartoon: Zorphbert and Fred

    Zorphbert and Fred

There are many cartoonists who I am jealous of for their talent.  One of them is Dawn Griffin of Zorphbert and Fred fame.  The depth that her cartoon has in mere gray scale is amazing and her line work is tops.

Well Dawn is getting married and she is going to be busy for a while so she created a guest registry for cartoonists to depict different wedding scenes.  She is starting at the bottom with mine on “Breaking the Glass”.  So go check it out and leave her many comments to show what I lack in talent I make up in a loyal fan base.

And keep checking back over the next month as you will see many other Bearmaniacs joining in the fun including Bo Lumpkin on Friday, Ken Drab, Todd McElmurry and Byron Wilkins.

  • Karen Owen Powerpoint: Editorial Cartoon from George Ford

Editorial Cartoon: Duke University Karen Owen Powerpoint

One good turn deserves a comeuppance.  As a thank you (or payback) to my guest cartoon at George Ford’s Addanac City, he has created a guest editorial cartoon for me.

Seems a little coed at Duke University has created another sex scandal at the University.  Little Karen Owen bedded 13 athletes at the university between her sophmore and senior year.  She then decided to turn those exploits into a thesis of sorts in Powerpoint form showcasing pictures and graphs of the sexual aptitude of each of the men.   She titled the presentation “An Education Beyond The Classroom: Excelling In The Realm Of Horizontal Academics” but it has been referred to as the “Fuck List”  Well what started as a joke among a few of her friends has of course spread across the internet.

So now there are rumors flying of both lawsuits and book deals.  What a crazy world.  Hey if anyone wants to pay me for the rights to a book on my lack of sexual exploits in college, I am standing by.

Love how George included his main character Hank as the water boy.  Any other webcomic artists who want to jump into the editorial cartoon realm with a guest cartoon here (when it doesn’t fit what you are doing on your own site), just let me know.

  • Guest Cartoon at Addanac City

So back in May or June, George Ford begged and pleaded that he was soooooooo busy moving (or some other BS) and he needed guest cartoons.  Being the good friend that I am, I quickly whipped up a cartoon for him.

For some reason he felt, that his precious 5 month long story line couldn’t be interrupted and my priceless artwork sat on the dust piles.  That is until now.

    Check it Out

  • Guest Cartoon: 1977 The Comic

Byron Wilkins of 1977theComic is always supportive of my calls for guest cartoons here so I jumped at the chance to do one for his band (really it is a band) of 70’s lovers, drinkers, and stoners.

    Check it out!!!

  • Movie Poster – Dressed for Success & Scapula

To finish out the guest cartoons we are doing a double post.  First up is Dress for Success from Chris Howard and Jeff Wason.  Dress for Success is a story arc comic that doesn’t feel like a long form comic as the writers keep the dialogue to a minimum or don’t bother using any at all.  Check out the archives to go through the story.  Here is how Chris describes it:

Dressed For Success is the story of Alex Corbett and Walter Andrewkowski, two guys thrown together by chance, now making their way in a crazy universe one adventure at a time. All the while trying to stay one step ahead of the mafia and with the hopes of turning a profit. Begun in the 90’s during the Indie boom, DFS is back on the web and ready for new adventures. As with our earlies stories, we produced a series of movie parody posters. Most were just for fun and to tease people before we started our new story, but the Crystal Skull poster was actually the title page for our first new story, Mississauga Jay and the Lost Shrine of the Osars. The Hangover parody proved very popular, and could lead into an actual story in the future. Alex and Walter have traveled back in time once already, and an even more convoluted messed up time story with Philip, (the guy in the back) helping them wouldn’t be out of the question. The baby Mafia alien is a total wild card.

All the parody posters are viewable here: http://egestacomics.com/parody-posters/

Aidan Casserly Rocky Horror Show Scapula Spoof for Beartoons.com

Rounding out the Guest Movie Posters we return to Aidan Casserly of Scapula fame in his rendition of Scapula ala The Rocky Horror Picture Show.

Thanks to all my Guest Cartoonists for helping out during my break.  Hope you readers have enjoyed it.
