Editorial Cartoon: Democrats and Justice Roberts

The Cartoonist Studio Editorial Cartoon Contest continues and I made it to week THREE!  Thanks to all for voting.  Click the image above or here to go to the voting.  You should do a search of “Bearman” and my cartoon will come up front and center and then vote.  Some people were clicking the link and then accidentally voting on the first thing that popped up.  Unfortunately no way to direct link to my cartoon.  Again, as long as I stay in the contest, there will be two editorial cartoons a week to vote on – Mondays and Thursdays.   Oh and you can vote multiple times in each round if you want (resets every six hours) until EOD Tuesday.

Today’s editorial cartoon is in honor of Chief Justice John Roberts.  Seems ever since he has been nominated to the Supreme Court, Democrats have chastised Roberts for being a right winger.  There was even speculation during President Obama’s Inauguration that Roberts purposefully flubbed the lines Obama was reciting during his Oath of Office.

Well last week Justice Roberts shocked both sides of the spectrum when he joined his more liberal justices in upholding what is affectionately been known as ObamaCare.  Now Democrats are going to have to reevaluate their thoughts on the Chief.

Special shout out to Red at Momma’s Money Matters who has worked her butt off to get me votes from her friends/followers.

Today’s editorial cartoon is inspired by everyone’s favorite bus monitor, Karen Klein.  Oh you haven’t seen the video of her getting bullied relentlessly by little shits?  Here it is but be warned the language is harsh and your blood pressure may rise.

And the web reacted.  Someone started a campaign on Indiegogo to raise $10,000 for Karen to be able to go on a vacation.  As of today’s posting there is currently $664,398 donated.  And Southwest Airlines offered to send her and 9 guests to Disneyland for a 3 day vacation.  So of course the haters have to come out.   Questions about whether as a bus monitor she was effective at her job.  And more importantly, I predict you will now see this victim mentality that I ought to get compensated grossly for any wrong done to me.  Hey Karen got hers, why can’t I get mine.

I also predict there will be some people that start staging sympathy videos in hopes of getting money.  But I am a pessimist when it comes to people doing the right thing.

  • Editorial Cartoon: Ron Paul Social Security Hypocrite

So Doctor, Senator and Presidential Candidate Ron Paul was in the news last week about his seemingly hypocritical stance on Social Security (see article).   Seems with one breath he states that Social Security is Unconstitutional but with the other admits that he accepts Social Security.

In the editorial cartoon I used “Hypocritic Oath” instead of “Hippocratic Oath” (pledge of doctors).  See what I did there?  Pretty clever huh?

I am torn though.  One one hand, he did pay into the system so he has the right to get paybacks.  YET, he makes the claim that he puts it in the same category as roads  where he has paid into them so he should enjoy the benefits thereof.   It would be very difficult to NOT drive on government roads.  It would be very easy to take a stand and not cash your Social Security check or at the least protest by donating the checks.   Thoughts?

  • Editorial Cartoon: Mitt Romney Indecisive

    Bearman Cartoons Mitt Romney Indecisive

The Cartoonist Studio Editorial Cartoon Contest continues and I made it to week TWO! Oh and you can vote multiple times in each round if you want (resets every six hours) until EOD  Saturday.

It seems like every presidential election cycle their is a candidate the press/pundits like to point out is wishy washy or indecisive in some way.  John Kerry was known as the flip flopper and now the mantra has been passed down to Mitt Romney.  I was reading this quote from Leo Tolstoy which inspired today’s editorial cartoon.  Tolstoy was a Russian writer in the 1800’s who is famous for writing War and Peace and also inspiring non violent movements such as used by Gandhi and Martin Luther King.

I don’t mind a politician changing his mind on issues.  I guess it is better than standing your ground without being able to be persuaded.  But changing your mind is a far cry from consistently being indecisive.

This editorial cartoon is timely as we heat up all the rhetoric that is going to happen during the campaign.  Those of you who know me know I am a moderate who one day will poke fun at the left and another at the right.  Today you get a two for one.  Whether Democrat or Republican they both are interested in what I have in my pants and what I am doing with it.  Democrats are always after our money and Republicans are always interested in what we are doing with our bodies (gay marriage, abortion, sex in general).  Ok to be honest I too am completely against abortion BUT that doesn’t mean I am prepared to completely ban it either.  Good thing I don’t run for office because they would say I was wishy washy.

And sorry I haven’t been around to other sites this past week.  On vacation so am limited to how much I can surf.

Thanks again for all the votes last week.

  • Editorial Cartoon: Bloomberg Soda Ban

Editorial Cartoon Michael Bloomberg Soda Ban

The Cartoonist Studio Editorial Cartoon Contest continues.  Click the image above or here to go to the voting.  You should do a search of “Bearman” and my cartoon will come up front and center and then vote.  Some people were clicking the link and then accidentally voting on the first thing that popped up.  Unfortunately no way to direct link to my cartoon.  In fourth place in the voting after the first entry so thanks to all who voted.   Again, as long as I stay in the contest, there will be two editorial cartoons a week to vote on – Mondays and Thursdays.   Oh and you can vote multiple times in each round if you want (resets every six hours) until EOD Friday.

Today’s editorial cartoon is inspired by New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg.  His latest crusade is against the Big Gulp aka any sugary drinks (soda, pop, soft drink, coke, Hi-C….whatever you like to call it in your neck of the world) bigger than 16oz being sold in restaurants and other retail establishments.  His reasoning is that those high caloric drinks contribute to obesity.  Question is where does it stop?  And do you seriously think it means people will drink less?  Hell no, they will just go back for more refills in a restaurant or just buy two in the drive thru.  Instead of super sizing for $.50 more, I can see many restaurants offering buy one get one for $.50, because people still want their vat of soft drink.  What say you?  Good idea or Nanny State?

  • Obama is Moving “FORWARD”

    Bearman Cartoon Obama Forward Slogan

The Cartoonist Studio Editorial Cartoon Contest has begun.  Click the link or here to go to the voting.  They are in alphabetical order and my entry should be the third one. So if you can, please vote. It looks like I have some great competition.  As long as I stay in the contest, there will be two editorial cartoons a week to vote on – Mondays and Thursdays.

Regarding today’s editorial cartoon, it seems President Barack Obama has decided to change (haha) his campaign slogan from “CHANGE” to “FORWARD”.  Like many Americans some of his policies I agree with and some I don’t.  So the question is which way are we going forward and even if it is the right direction are we still constrained by our present issues that haven’t been dealt with?  Sometimes we look too far ahead without realizing what is holding us back.

  • #FCK CANCER

Fuck Cancer Cartoon by Bearman Cartoons

The other day on google plus, “#FCK CANCER” was a trending topic.  As I read through many of the posts with people talking about how it affected them personally, I got mad.  Not at the people for posting it but because of this devastating disorder.  I watched my mother bury her mother and sister within 3 months of each other.  I watched my brother in law lose his battle that he fought for years.  And now I have several other close friends battling hard to get healthy.

So I made this cartoon image.  And unlike other images that I copyright or put my URL on, I have put no notifications on this image.  That is because I want people to freely use it.  Use it to put on your blog, use it to put on a fundraising tshirt, or any other way.  The only thing I will say because I have seen it done is you can’t sell the image itself (on shirt etc it is encouraged) or try to pass it off to others as your own (ie slapping your URL all over it) because I don’t want others to think they can’t use it.  So essentially you can make money off the products you make with the image but not off the image itself.  Click on the image itself and you will be taken to the full sized png image.

I’ll be back with the final count of the Charity Challenge this week but in the meantime a big thank you to Colleen from TixComics for my Fan Art and Brandon from TWXXD Comic for putting me in his cartoon this week.  Click the links to check them out!!

  • ToonMZ Josie and the Pussycat Dolls

    ToonMZ-Josie-and-the Pussycat Dolls Beartoons

Pulling out the obscure cartoon character by having Josie from the Archie comics Josie and the Pussycats suing the Pussycat Dolls for name infringement.  I am surprised the Pussycat Dolls have not worn leopard print outfits as a homage to Josie and the girls.

Here is some interesting facts.  The Pussycat Dolls started not as a pop group but as a burlesque and dance troupe.  So while the few people that know any member of the group typically can name Nicole Scherzinger, did you know that Christina Appelgate actually had a hand in starting the group along with Cincinnati’s own Carmen Electra.

And these Hollywood actresses/singers also joined in doing guest appearances:

    • Charlize Theron
    • Gwen Stefani
    • Pamela Anderson
    • Paris Hilton
    • Britney Spears
    • Christina Aguilera
    • Dita Von Teese
    • Brittany Murphy

Given a few names on the list, it is no wonder Josie and the Pussycats wanted their name back.

Oh and another $10 to charity thanks to Mark Stokes with my appearance in a recent Zombie Boy Comic.  Check it out.

  • Editorial Cartoon: Facepalm – Facebook goes Public

    Editorial-Cartoon Mark Zuckerberg Facebook Facepalm

I actually previewed this editorial cartoon on Google Plus on Friday.  It was well received due to the timing and my predictive nature on Thursday night when I drew this that the Facebook IPO would be less than stellar.   Poor Mark Zuckerberg has to do a facepalm instead of promoting his facebook.  Though none of us should feel sorry for them as all the pre IPO stock holders will cash out for bookoo bucks.   Besides Mark got to marry his college sweetheart over the weekend and since he knew her before he was rich, you know she wasn’t in it for the money.  Congrats to the couple.

    Charity Challenge Update

    Week 3 Breakdown:

$10 for Using ME in their Cartoon –

$1 for ever new follower on Google Plus at http://googleplus.beartoons.com

584 NEW FOLLOWERS in a week.

Which puts us way the hell over my goal of $1000 to those charities.  Thank you thank you.  I maxed out for the first time in 4 years.  However…

I know there are a couple cartoonists who expressed interest in still doing a Bearman Cameo this month so for anyone else that does, I will donate the $10 to Crayons to Computers.  Also there is still time to donate to Crayons to Computers in honor of Bearman Cartoons.  Remember I will match those donations.
