#FCK CANCER

Fuck Cancer Cartoon by Bearman Cartoons

The other day on google plus, “#FCK CANCER” was a trending topic.  As I read through many of the posts with people talking about how it affected them personally, I got mad.  Not at the people for posting it but because of this devastating disorder.  I watched my mother bury her mother and sister within 3 months of each other.  I watched my brother in law lose his battle that he fought for years.  And now I have several other close friends battling hard to get healthy.

So I made this cartoon image.  And unlike other images that I copyright or put my URL on, I have put no notifications on this image.  That is because I want people to freely use it.  Use it to put on your blog, use it to put on a fundraising tshirt, or any other way.  The only thing I will say because I have seen it done is you can’t sell the image itself (on shirt etc it is encouraged) or try to pass it off to others as your own (ie slapping your URL all over it) because I don’t want others to think they can’t use it.  So essentially you can make money off the products you make with the image but not off the image itself.  Click on the image itself and you will be taken to the full sized png image.

I’ll be back with the final count of the Charity Challenge this week but in the meantime a big thank you to Colleen from TixComics for my Fan Art and Brandon from TWXXD Comic for putting me in his cartoon this week.  Click the links to check them out!!

My husband fought Prostate Cancer back in 2009. As of now he shows no signs of it.
    I hate Cancer!!

  2. Lynn says:

    This is interesting… your strategy.

  3. Red says:

Thank you for this. My late husband is so because of four different kinds of cancer. It is the predominant killer in his family.
    Red.

  4. You are doing such a great job, will paste it on my blog. Thanks :)

  5. Jenn says:

Definitely #FCKCancer, it’s a topic very near and dear to my family. We’re battling it together with my uncles. Great post

  6. Binky says:

We always hear about a lot of very promising research and trials, but a real treatment or cure for most cancers always seems to elude us.

    • Bearman says:

I look at the treatments that are available now and wonder if they will seem barbaric in 50 years.

      • Hope that radiation treatments will be viewed as we look at bloodletting now. Aunt: breast cancer and radical double mastectomy. Step-father: prostate cancer along with skin cancer.
F*CK Cancer is so right on.
Bearman, health and light to your friends and family. Off to contemplate how to use your great (and gifted!) image to it’s best.

  7. Scott says:

Once again, you’re a hero, Bearman! I’ve posted it on my blog.

  8. Friggin Loon says:

    Well done Bearman

  9. nursemyra says:

I lost my partner to colon cancer in 2007. Fuck fuck fuck it.

  10. Sadly it feels like EVERYONE can relate…
it seems we all know people (more often than not they are very close to us) who have been victims of this/these devastating disease(s)… awful.
Love the graphic (and the idea / generosity), Bearman…

  11. definitely… #fck it! when I add in my mother and half-brother in with my aunts and uncles and cousins who have had cancer, it’s probably been more than 10 people in my family that have died from it.

  12. Lisa says:

    You’re a really cool guy.

Hmm, I didn’t know google + did the trending thing.
    have to check that out.

    • Bearman says:

Lisa if you look to the right of the stream you will see trending on Google Plus. It is Justin Bieber on top again…sigh.

  13. G. B. Miller says:

Cancer definitely sucks. Lost a grandparent to it many, many years ago and it was heartbreaking to watch him slowly ride off into the sunset.

  14. starla says:

It was heart warming to see your #FCK CANCER post. Sad to see how many people have had cancer in their families. My father survived melenoma twice. As you know we barried my father in law recently pancreatic cancer.

    • Bearman says:

I went from being a sun god to being someone who lathers up just to take a walk with sunscreen. My wife has been good about that her entire life.

  15. Love it. I think we all have too many stories of how bad it is and can be.

  16. Nate Fakes says:

Yes, $%#& Cancer! I’m always scared of getting something. Probably why I avoid checkups.

  17. Hjörtur says:

My father had cancer and I lost both my grandfathers to cancer.
    #FCK CANCER!

  18. Androgoth says:

    • Bearman says:

Thanks knowing how your site is locked tighter than Fort Knox. Charity challenge was a rousing success thanks to all of you.

  19. Comedy Plus says:

Fair enough on the image. I too have lost many to cancer. It’s an awful disease.

    Have a terrific day. :)

  20. Cancer’s brutal. Today’s comic RAWKS!

  21. Dr. Cynicism says:

Hellz yea man… great toon and great cause. Thanks for making it freely available too!

  22. Mark Stokes says:

    That’s the fightin’ spirit, Bearman!

  23. jynksie says:

My mother died of pancreatic cancer 13 years ago! I’m not saying #Fck Cancer because it got her, I’m saying #Fck Cancer because in the 13 years since she has died, I’ve watched and heard of countless others die from this same disease with little advancement in the medical field to combat it. It’s like all these people have died and no one is learning a thing from it!

#Fck Cancer so hard it has a bloody aneurism and dies itself!

    • Bearman says:

25 years ago when my grandmother was fighting it, they seemed to have many of the same barbaric treatments as they do today.

  24. George says:

This is a great, powerful image, Bearman. I hope it takes off and goes viral.

I remember trying something like this in the mid-90’s. I designed these t-shirts that read “F–k Satan! He Can Eat A D–k!”

I thought it would be a great idea to get kids back into the church and make them think it was cool. The higher-ups didn’t agree with me though.

I guess they had a thing for ol’ Scratch. Sigh…..

  25. Scholar Mel says:

My grandpa died from brain cancer two years ago. Yeah, it sucks. So does death but I believe it’s been conquered. I’ll leave it at that.

    Good job Bearman.

  26. Cha says:

    Thanks for sharing, Bearman.
We’ve all been touched by cancer.. unfortunately. My grandpa lost his battle when I was 6. It really affected me, changed me forever. Neighbors, coworkers, friends’ parents… I’ve known so many people who’ve had cancer. :(
So unfair. So sad… so… there’s just no word! But Fuck cancer is perfect.
    xx

  27. susan says:

LOL..I LOVE THAT LITTLE FCK CANCER SIGN! i had breast cancer, so i know how awful it is to have cancer.it seems at times like i’m surrounded by it cause every day you hear of more people that have died from it or have found out they have it.i’m going to copy it and put in my blog. thanks for posting it! :)

  28. Rudy says:

I saw you post this on G+. At the time my grandmother was coming up on a year post op from breast cancer. Since, my fiance has been diagnosed with cervical cancer. This made her smile. It’s a little thing but it matters.

  1. [...] Bearman has come up with a cartoon that really says it all.  It may be considered coarse, by some–but I’m sure everyone will agree with its message.  Here is the link, followed by the image: http://beartoons.com/2012/05/27/fck-cancer/ [...]
