Today is the day. Beware of the Sith day. All over Google Plus on friday I was unindated with posts about “May the Fourth Be With You” in reference to May 4 being Star Wars Day. So of course I couldn’t go with the masses and needed to blaze my own trail. Thus Beware the SIxTH of May. Several people questioned me because there is already a “Revenge of the Fifth” but honestly with the typography and play on Sixth/Sith, mine is way better.
Charity Challenge Update
I can honestly say this is turning out already to be the most successful charity challenge yet only after one week. So I thank all of you who have already done stuff or are planning to do more. Let’s look at Week one Breakdown.
$10 for Using ME in their Cartoon –
- Mark Stokes at Zombie Boy
- Neal Edwards at Subparker
- Tony McGurk at Tazmanians
$10 Blog about the Challenge
- Duncan at Mad Hatters
- Mach3 at itravel blog
- Bo at Bo Lumpkin
- Eric Johnson at Made for Art
$5 Adding me to Blog Roll or Adding Banner
- Duncan at Mad Hatters
- Starla at Starla’s Chat
- Scott at Solo Social
$5 because the Friggin Loon added a category to her posts called “Friggin Ohio Home of Bearman” because even though she is an Aussie somehow, 50% of her posts have to do with crazy people that live within 100 miles of me.
$1 for ever new follower on Google Plus at http://googleplus.beartoons.com
392 NEW FOLLOWERS in a week. That is more than has “liked” my facebook page in 3 years. haha
Which gives us a week 1 total of ………$482 more than double 2011
PLUS:
I had 3 people donate money to Crayons2Computers in honor of Bearman Cartoons
Holland Rhodes – $5
Shani Hiraoka – $25
Nancy Schreck – $25
So I will be matching those donations with $55 of my own at the end of the month
Please let me know if I missed anyone and if you want to get involved click on the image below.
Love your new observance of the Sixth of May. You rock.
I’ve added your banner to my sidebar…does that count?
Have a terrific day. 🙂
Sure does. Will add that to next week’s tally!! Thanks Sandee.
I’m going to say it – I LIKE Star Wars, but I’m not a huge fan. Does that make me less of a man? Well, maybe, but I got tired of hearing “May the Fourth be with You” the other day. I like this one better.
I am probably like you. I really don’t get the whole Clone Wars thing. haha
I’m less of a man too Nate cos I’m not a Starwars fan either. Congrats on so much charity success already Bearman. As I said before you’re a very kind & generous man
Thanks Tony. So are you more a Star Trek guy?
No not really. I like space movies but more realistic type ones rather than ones that are too over the top fantasy types. I dunno if that makes sense but I know what I mean
Oh so Aliens?? hahah
I;’m right along with you, Nate. I respect and appreciate the concept behind Star Wars and Star Trek, I cannot make it thru any of the movies at all. I’m not huge on Sci-Fi. My favorite sci-fi movies have been Galaxy Quest and Starship Troopers. So that goes to show you how hapless I am. 🙂
I like your sixth better as well. Congrats on the charity going so well.
Of course you did….it was ME!! haah
You seem to be workin’ a lot harder lately and your stuff is lookin really great. Don’t burn yourself out.
Glad the challenge is goin’ well.
I’m doin’ as much promotin’ as I can. My sisters used up most of my time this week.
Damn that family. Always getting into your business. Actually working less since I went from 3 posts a week to 2. Gives me more sanity.
Sanity ain’t always a benefit in this business. 🙂
Insanity helps
OMG, Bearman’s inner nerd has surfaced…..run!!!!!
You don’t mind my outer nerd so why worry about my inner one. I had to look up Darth Maul’s name so not that big of a nerd
Oh, you’re just being modest.
Darth who?
Like you don’t know you geek.
I see DEAD people!
No, wait… different ‘Sixth’.
My bad.
🙂
Sixth degrees of separation.
I see sixth people.
What about the 7th person. They are feeling left out.
No more than the one left out of the nine out of ten.
Red.
That is me and I like to be original
GOOD ON YOU MISTER 🙂
WHERE ON EARTH DO I FOLLOW YOUR BLOG ?
WHERE IS THE BUTTON 🙂
AMAZING WORK
🙂
CAT
Thanks Cat!!
Right above the header to the blog is where you can click for RSS, Twitter, Facebook etc.
You and I are already linked via G+ so that is good
If you want email notifications look to the top right and then enter your email address there. When I post new things you will get notified.
Of course yours is way better!
Oddly enough, whenever I read “May the Forth Be With You” I imagine the person with a lisp…
Same with Beware the Sixth…
I’m of that generation of kids who had seen the first one when it came out… I think it’s something that everyone my age remembers seeing in the theater the first time, and being blown away by it. I’m still pretty fond of it.
What is amazing is even before Lucas’ tinkering, the effects stand up to time 35 years later
Gosh, Bear, I have to get my act together and mention this in my next post. You’re outdoing yourself each year…high-5 big guy!
Thank Bean!!
Killer design. Unfortunately Star Wars sank like a rock with me after the re-releases in the late 90’s. The franchise hit rock bottom with Jar Jar Binks. I have to say my nerd alliance is with Star Trek.
Am I the only person in the world who actually likes Jar Jar? I think he was great.
There are at least 2 of us. Jar Jar was awesome!
Hi I have put a large poster of Beartoons on my widget please check whenever you get time and tell me If i have done it right
Wow…thank you thank you thank you. Another $5
If you have a 125×125 banner ad I would be happy to add it to my site as well.
I love your take on the Star Wars stuff (very nice Sith). I’m also glad to see the Challenge is even more successful than last year’s already. I’ll be doing my part to help out very soon.
I realized why I never did superhero stuff…that was damn hard to do.
Now you know why I prefer to draw cartoon-style for the most part. I can crank those out all day long. 🙂
Holy help, Bearman–that’s alot of good will. Good going, and good going to all participating!
Thanks Scott. Got your banner up too!!
A Beautiful Darth maul Sir.
When I was half way through I wondered why the heck I even attempted it but it turned out great. IMO.
I don’t even know how many Star Wars movies there were. I enjoyed the first few and remember taking my young daughter to one where she fell asleep. She is now married with 3 kids. Time flies. It was one of the later ones in the series that introduced Sith – right?
Yes. The first of the new ones. Episode I
At least I don’t think the concept was in the original 3 but I don’t remember.
I thought this was a much better idea than Revenge of the Fifth. 🙂
Me too!!!
Nice job…now watch as Star Wars nerds everywhere start pretending this was THEIR idea!
Everyone steals my ideas. I am just lazier than most to make money off my ideas.
I was lured here by Spilled Ink Guy’s many (er, two) references to Ohio in his blog post about you. You may appreciate that while I’ve never seen Star Wars, I got the word “sith” while playing Draw Something the other day and drew people winning 1st through 6th places at the Olympics (what?), circled the sixth one, and then wrote “-x”. I’m really, really good at this game.
Thank you Ms Mundane or should I call you Unapologetically?? Funny I haven’t played draw something. I might get way too distracted.
In honor of Sith Day, I beat the crap out of several Star Wars fans.
The didn’t take you down with their sabers?
I like it. I appreciate any opportunity to wear a cape.
Well you missed nurses day.
Darth Maul was a popular costume in our house a few years ago. Now they prefer serial killers and Doctor Death. I think I liked Darth Maul better.
Glad to hear the fundraiser is going well. Congrats.
Oh, and by the way, thanks so much for keeping me in the know with the lovely video. I just about fell out of my chair. Makes LFMAO seem like Seasame Street.
You need to look up some of his hits. They are all mushy and stuff. Quite the departure.
Of course your is better, Bearman!
Great idea, Bearman, very inventive use of the light sabers! Love the Sith Lord art!
Thanks Mark. Hated drawing that damn thing.
