I bring you the Kim Davis and Kathy Bates (Misery) Mash up. Watching the news on the Clerk in Kentucky who refused to issue marriage licenses to gay couples, her outfit reminded me of ones Kathy Bates wore in Misery. Someone else must have noticed it too because I saw floating around a photo image that had something like “Separated at Birth”
I know the line from Misery is “You’re just another lying, old, dirty birdy”, but there isn’t just one in this case it seems. It’s all of us. Enjoy the weekend. Don’t take any sledgehammers to the leg.
I loved that movie. I hadn’t noticed the outfit though. Okay, I didn’t really even read about the clerk, just the headline.
Have a fabulous day. ☺
WEll leave it to me to provide the headlines and the story
That’s the scariest movie monster I’ve ever seen.
Maybe there will be a sequel now
I think she’s experiencing a bit of Misery herself now.
Prison food
Congrats! By far, this is the mildest and least offensive thing I’ve seen/read about Kim Davis.
I throw my punches with kid gloves
I use kid gloves
I have been following this story (from the UK) with some bemusement
I don’t share this woman’s belief regarding same-sex marriage, but respect her right to hold a different view from me – (even though I think she’s wrong)
but while I agree she , by her actions, is in contempt of court – imprisoning her is not going to improve the situation
it simply makes her a martyr
garners more publicity
allows those who share her narrow interpretation of the scriptures to claim ‘woe is me – the buggers are attacking my religion’
the solution to this ‘problem’ is blindingly obvious (to me) – but may take you americans some time to come to ( 😉 ) . . .
release this woman from prison
allow her to exercise her religious beliefs
allow her to step aside when a same sex couple wish to wed
and when that occasion arises, allow a subordinate (who doesn’t share her religious objections to same sex marriage) or draft in a substitute official from a neighbouring district, to grant a license to a same sex couple wishing to marry
simple, innit ?
next question ? 😆
I agree. It solves her issue of putting her name on it and solves the issue for the couples too.
I didn’t notice the similarity in dress style. I’ve only watched a little bit of the coverage. It seemed to me that she should just resign since she can’t follow her oath of office. Now with all the publicity she could resign and run for a higher office.
I wouldn’t ask her to resign…maybe have a fill in clerk for those special situations.
Excellent. As long as you don’t have car trouble bearman!
Better be careful as I drive through Kentucky
Hahaha I don’t know who’s worse Kathy Bates in Misery or Kim Davis in real life.
Kathy only bothered one person
Great mashup Bearman!
I have to say, that lady pisses me off.
Thanks Bill. I think she thinks she is being a martyr
Kim Davis’ clothes are certainly plain. And she is overweight. And she is not a polished speaker–definitely not a politician.
Yet Kim Davis is genuine, sincere–real. And amidst the “Cult of Personality” that pervades our society more than ever before, it is refreshing to know of someone like Kim Davis.
Scott, here is my only issue with her. How can you be genuine and quote the bible but only cherry pick the parts that you feel are relevant for others to follow?
Maybe they’ll make a movie.
Then it would be a sequel right?
She’s gonna break ankles worse than Michael Jordan.
Now you have me picturing her on the basketball court
Oh yes! Haha, this concept is gonna stick. I’ll never be able to separate them now!
Good…I like getting into your head
I agree with Duncan’s comment. I knew a woman once who worked in a shop & had a real conscience problem with selling cigarettes to people. When a customer wanted a pack of smokes she’d just ask someone else to serve them. No one had a problem with that. I haven’t seen the movie so I may have to watch it soon.
Seems like a great alternative
Now to mash it up with MC Hammer or Thor.
