Editorial Cartoon: Occupy Elm Street

Editorial Cartoon Occupy Elm Street

I was upset that I didn’t come up with the “Occupy Sesame Street” posts that are circulating on the internet.  But I think I am the first to call for the Occupy Elm Street protests

Wasn’t sure if I liked the format of this as an editorial cartoon as above or a call to action poster as below with more subtlety to what they are protesting.  Which do you like better?

  1. Binky says:

I’m not sure. I’d say I like the cartoon one (top) better. Are we going to have to think every time we come here now? I’m not sure I can handle that.

  2. Friggin Loon says:

Blahahahah the second one. Freddy’s face is priceless (pun intended).

  3. Nef says:

I prefer the bottom version because Freddy has the same face he has in the top one. Oh, and it kind of makes more sense too.

  4. lisleman says:

Easy pick for me – the top one. I think you need to read their signs to get the idea of what they have against Freddy (who was just misunderstood)

  5. Bo Lumpkin says:

The top one works for me. I’ll be back later to say more but I’ve got to go study for the test you told Binky about.

  6. planetross says:

    I like the first one.
Have people protested against a movie character? … other than Harry Potter?

Most people are into banning books; Freddy is probably safe.

  7. George says:

For some reason, I like the second one more. It really emphasizes Freddy’s plight.

  8. Mark Stokes says:

I never thought I’d ever say this but poor Freddy Krueger. I prefer the top drawing – nothing like an angry crowd to prove a point! I’m sure you created the top one first. Always go with your gut (unless Freddy is filleting it).

  9. Comedy Plus says:

I’m with Binky…I don’t want to think and I sure don’t want a test. I can’t pay attention very well either. Bwahahahahahaha.

    Love your take on this.

    Have a terrific day. 🙂

  10. Tony McGurk says:

I am not sure. The top you can see the signs & the bottom is just as good as it promotes Occupy Elm St. I am too indicisive to choose I like them both. The best OSS one I came across that fits in with a previous cartoon was “Support Bert and Ernie’s right to marriage equality.”
And I thought “It’s your count that votes” was very funny too

  11. Poor Freddy, he looks so sad.
I like the top one better. I love the signs!

  12. Chris K says:

Freddy’s look is classic. Does not know what to do.

  13. nursemyra says:

It’s the first one for me!

  14. alecho says:

Hahaha occupy Elm Street! Nice. Really like Freddy’s facial expression. good stuff! 🙂

  15. Barbaric Bob says:

poor freddy, what did he ever do to deserve this?
o wait yeah hes a doushbag that kills people because he got killed by people because he killed people! he should grow up and see what goes around comes around

  16. MC/Curtis says:

I like the top one better. I have no idea what Occupy Sesame Street is so on the second one I just wanted to read the protest signs, even though I had just read them in the first one. I found it impossible to do so however.

Maybe one of the protest signs could read Occupy Elm Street but both gags are good and you’d lose a gag. That wasn’t the question anyway though. The first one is the one I personally prefer.

So I guess people want to put troops on Sesame Street because of Bert and Ernie? I remember you did a recent Bert and Ernie comic.

  17. DadaHyena says:

Nice. Definitely use the top one. The joke doesn’t need to be THAT obvious, just people most people out there are dunderheads (or just unacquainted with the films of Robert Englund).

  18. Nate Fakes says:

I think Wall Street is a little bit more scarier at the time (have you seen some of the people there!)

  19. Hahahaha! Poor Frieddy.
    Great idea!

  20. I hope they don’t occupy Pub Alley. We won’t share our garbage food with any of them

  21. Friggin Loon says:

Blahahahaha Bearman, someone’s in the naughty corner at Wombania 🙂

  22. I saw on tonight’s news that this is now going on all over the world. I only saw bits & pieces of it as I was colouring a comic & just poked my head around the side of the door a few times. Seemed like things were getting outta hand in some of the places.

  23. If only the residents of Elm Street had thought to band together sooner. Maybe Freddy just plain didn’t know how much they disapproved of the way he was running their dreams.

  24. jynksie says:

Now, if we could start an “occupy my furnace”, I could just turn it on and use up all that free fuel I would now have! [muah-HA-hahahahaha] [grin]

  25. MJ says:

    Ha,ha,ha! Outrageous.

  26. Jenn says:

This is definitely ONE protest I’ll be at.

  27. Hahaha…
    either way…
I feel like I’m gonna get clawed.
    🙂

  28. James says:

Freddy look like he’s legitimately sad that they are occupying Elm St.
