‘Just one more thing…’ I loved that show.

  2. Duncanr says:

Loved him, especially as Columbo – he proved that appearances really are deceiving.

He looked like a loser and acted like he was stumbling around in the dark but you know he was going to emerge the winner in the end. Great family entertainment and great actor

P.S. the buggers wearing my raincoat !!!

  3. G says:

Good caricature. I didn’t watch “Columbo” much (if at all), but I did appreciate some of the movies I saw him do.

  4. Dave Hambidge says:

RIP as the last credits roll:(

  5. CDowd says:

    Great caricature.

  6. Tony McGurk says:

Excellent likeness Bearman. I used to love Columbo. I haven’t seen it on TV since I was a teenager.

  7. nursemyra says:

    Yes, you’ve nailed him

  8. lisleman says:

good one – His show had me wanting to wear trench coat.

  9. Binky says:

Good likeness! I used to really like Columbo. It was very well wrtten, and Peter Falk played the roll so well. Fit him like an old raincoat.

  10. MJ says:

I hope you had as much fun drawing Peter Falk as I did. Good character to draw.

  11. Aw, poor Columbo

  12. Never was much of a Colombo fan but he was a great actor

  13. I never saw Columbo. I could never figure out when it was on. I guess I wouldn’t have made a very good detective.

  14. Bo Lumpkin says:

Peter Falk was one of the good ones. All the old actors (about my age and an little older) seem to be dying off.

  15. George says:

I hadn’t heard about the passing of Falk. Thanks for letting me know. And that is one amazing caricature of him, by the way. Just curious, how long did tit take for tyou to complete this design? It looks intricate.

    • Bearman says:

Intricate how??? Probably about 2 hours.

      • George says:

Man, you’ve got shading, highlights, and all sorts of coloring wizardry going on. Plus I like the thickness of your ink line. You’ve been progressing without even noticing, haven’t you?

        • Bearman says:

          3 layers.

          Top Layer Ink
Middle Layer set the layer to soft and use black and white for highlighting
          Bottom Layer – Color.

I am sure most cartoonists do more than I for shading but it works with my limited schedule.

  16. Friggin Loon says:

I loved this guy. One of my fav movies was the In Laws …

  17. Enkätverkty says:

Excellent Peter Falk Cartoon here.I like it.

  18. Scholar Mel says:

Grandpa from Princess Bride correct? I was going to do a little post about Princess Bride the day he died which would have been coincidence. The reason I didn’t is because I could upload a picture I wanted to use because of my “high” speed internet acting slowly.

    This one is Columbo right?

  19. Comedy Plus says:

Wow, this is awesome. You are very talented.

    I just loved this guy.

    Have a terrific day. 🙂

  20. Fantastic…well done.

  21. It’s sad when the guy who could have solved off is killed off in the screenplay of life. 🙁 R.I.P. Mr Falk.

  22. Nice tribute piece. He will be missed. I’m noticing more and more people reflecting on the positive characteristics of the character Colombo that only he could play.

  23. Aw, man!
I hadn’t heard about this yet… sometimes it’s nice to live under a rock.
Great tribute, Bearman… love that little trademark squint…
    🙂

  24. alecho says:

RIP, Peter Falk. You and Colombo will be missed.

  25. planetross says:

“A caricature can refer to a portrait that exaggerates or distorts the essence of a person or thing to create an easily identifiable visual likeness.”

I don’t think that can apply to Peter Falk as Columbo for some reason.
    A very nice portrait indeed.

  26. Mark Stokes says:

Love the rumpled, scratchy line work. You really caught him! Great job!

  27. I like the fact that Lt.Peter Falk’s Columbo never carried a gun. Actually, he would be a great role model for an aspiring investigative reporter.
