Loved him, especially as Columbo – he proved that appearances really are deceiving.
He looked like a loser and acted like he was stumbling around in the dark but you know he was going to emerge the winner in the end. Great family entertainment and great actor
I hadn’t heard about the passing of Falk. Thanks for letting me know. And that is one amazing caricature of him, by the way. Just curious, how long did tit take for tyou to complete this design? It looks intricate.
Man, you’ve got shading, highlights, and all sorts of coloring wizardry going on. Plus I like the thickness of your ink line. You’ve been progressing without even noticing, haven’t you?
Grandpa from Princess Bride correct? I was going to do a little post about Princess Bride the day he died which would have been coincidence. The reason I didn’t is because I could upload a picture I wanted to use because of my “high” speed internet acting slowly.
Nice tribute piece. He will be missed. I’m noticing more and more people reflecting on the positive characteristics of the character Colombo that only he could play.
‘Just one more thing…’ I loved that show.
ha…at first I thought your previous comment didn’t come through…then I got it.

P.S. the buggers wearing my raincoat !!!
Really, I kind of thought of you as a Burberry man myself.
Good caricature. I didn’t watch “Columbo” much (if at all), but I did appreciate some of the movies I saw him do.
I remember watching repeats of it with my dad and some of the made for tv movies.
RIP as the last credits roll:(
Indeed.
Great caricature.
Thanks…something missing still for me.
very nice!
thanks BEAN
Excellent likeness Bearman. I used to love Columbo. I haven’t seen it on TV since I was a teenager.
Really…I thought you were older than that..haha j/k
Yes, you’ve nailed him
Thanks M. Glad I got to do a post of something you were familiar with finally.
good one – His show had me wanting to wear trench coat.
As long as you wanted to wear something under that trench.
Socks.
Good likeness! I used to really like Columbo. It was very well wrtten, and Peter Falk played the roll so well. Fit him like an old raincoat.
I think he was typecast.
I hope you had as much fun drawing Peter Falk as I did. Good character to draw.
You need to link us all to your pic.
Aw, poor Columbo
Yes indeed.
Never was much of a Colombo fan but he was a great actor
Bet you loved the Princess Bride though..
who doesn’t love The Princess Bride.
I know some who are over-obsessed with it.
The Princess Bride of Frankensein? I don’t believe I’ve seen that one yet.
or of FrankensTein.
I never saw Columbo. I could never figure out when it was on. I guess I wouldn’t have made a very good detective.
Probably around Kojak…who loves ya baby?
Peter Falk was one of the good ones. All the old actors (about my age and an little older) seem to be dying off.
Everyone your age and a little older seems to be dying off. You just have good genes.
I worry that my “genes” might be gettin’ a little threadbare.
Age tends to get us all, hopefully later than sooner.
I recently had a birthday and told my wife it was the best one ever. She asked why. I said every new one is the best one ever.

Intricate how??? Probably about 2 hours.

3 layers.
Top Layer Ink
Middle Layer set the layer to soft and use black and white for highlighting
Bottom Layer – Color.
I am sure most cartoonists do more than I for shading but it works with my limited schedule.
I loved this guy. One of my fav movies was the In Laws …
Don’t think I ever saw that one.
Excellent Peter Falk Cartoon here.I like it.
Thanks E. Not my best but others see some resemblance.
Nice, man.
Thanks A!

This one is Columbo right?
Yes…well an attempt at Columbo.
I was able to deduce that by myself. It was probably the raincoat. And the cigar. And the pose.
You are smarter than the average wombat
Wow, this is awesome. You are very talented.
I just loved this guy.
Have a terrific day. 🙂
Thanks Sandee….need to keep you around just for my ego.
Fantastic…well done.
Thanks!
It’s sad when the guy who could have solved off is killed off in the screenplay of life. 🙁 R.I.P. Mr Falk.
“solved off”????
I meant solve the crimes.
That makes more sense..haha
Nice tribute piece. He will be missed. I’m noticing more and more people reflecting on the positive characteristics of the character Colombo that only he could play.
No Columbo = No Monk
Aw, man!
I hadn’t heard about this yet… sometimes it’s nice to live under a rock.
Great tribute, Bearman… love that little trademark squint…
🙂
I am better than CNN for the latest news.
RIP, Peter Falk. You and Colombo will be missed.
Indeed
“A caricature can refer to a portrait that exaggerates or distorts the essence of a person or thing to create an easily identifiable visual likeness.”
I don’t think that can apply to Peter Falk as Columbo for some reason.
A very nice portrait indeed.
Love the rumpled, scratchy line work. You really caught him! Great job!
I like the fact that Lt.Peter Falk’s Columbo never carried a gun. Actually, he would be a great role model for an aspiring investigative reporter.
