For anyone that has been around a while they know that I do a Challenge each year whereby I ask you to get your friends to follow me on facebook and twitter and in exchange I donate money to support the local Foodbank.
Well long time Beartoons supporter Byron Wilkins of 1977 the Comic has teamed up with Kurt Sasso of TGT Webcomics for a cause near to my heart – Fighting Hunger. They have collected food related cartoons and recipes from various artists and are in the process of putting them together a cookbook collection. The proceeds of the book will support Food Banks in the United States and Canada.
They are now working on getting pre-orders for the low, low price of $20 anticipated the first run will be made around Thanksgiving. So click here and pre-order yours today.
I know many will ask if I am in it and the answer is “No”. I did submit a cartoon/recipe but it didn’t make the cut. HOWEVER, several of the ones who are in the book are well known to regular visitors here so that along with the cause is well worth you shelling out some bucks.
There is a bit of a misconception when it comes to the creator’s list and not ‘making the cut’. There’s another level to this for the charities and that’s the exclusive digital copy in limited quantities.
If you have a comic and you STILL want to get into at least the digital copy, submit it anyway to kurt@tgtmedia.com , on Friday November 12, 2010.
Thanks for the clarification Kurt. That would be great. Add me to the list.
Hmm, might have to order one for Susi Spice. We all know she needs one 🙂
Can’t believe you didn’t make the cut…a curious Loon wants to know what your recipe was? Say it wasn’t honey 🙁
Damn…I should have used Yogurt Loaf as my recipe. Now I am kicking myself. Especially with Christmas coming up, it would have been perfect….as a yule tide log.
Blahahaha I hear the loaf makes for a great heat beads substitute. Though the carbon emissions are friggin scary!
and u thought id miss this …yeah im back… i get over things quickly enough LOL
oooo yeah you should do my yoghurt loaf it would be awesome…bhahaha
maybe for christmas you chould do one where Santa is eating it with a glass of milk and me hiding behind the christmas tree watching him 😀
Or better yet Santa using it to fix the chimney when the sleigh takes out some of the bricks.
lol ur such a bitch but i love ya bearman
Gotta love a Bearman
I don’t think Santa or the reindeers are strong enough to carry a Susi Spice yogurt loaf 🙁
Actually I could use some binding right about now.
Mmmmmm . . .yogurt loaf. Feeding the masses, or stoking the fires.
Maybe if I was that hungry I would eat it.
I’ve actually considered doing a cookbook for homemade dog food. I couldn’t come up with more than a handful of recipes though.
I’ll have a look over there.
I could give you some based on crap my mom made that I didn’t like growing up and the dog ended up eating.
I used to give food the dog test. If the dog wouldn’t eat it I wouldn’t either.
I keep trying to feed the dog but we don’t have one
You’ve gotta feed those things? Uh-oh. I thought they were like Tomagotchis or sumthin’. I’ll be right back.
Is that a gremlin?
I’ve been thinking about a jammer cook book, based on some of that back-woods ozark recipes everybody loves.
Possum stew?
Jeez Bearman – Not only are you a badass cartoonist, but you’ve also got a heart of gold?? Come on now!
Shhh…don’t spread it around.
Very neat idea. Thanks for publicizing it.
Thanks Sheila.
I would love to see what you came up with anyway. You gotta give us a glimpse or something, man.
Maybe when the book actually comes out, I’ll post mine.
Thats a nice thing to do.
A cookbook to feed the hungry.
Yep…can’t wait to get mine.
You make me want to be a better person, Bearman.
What was your recipe?
Wasn’t that from Jerry McGuire??
MONKEY BREAD!!
Do you use all of the monkey or just the tail for that recipe?
I think they are supposed to be BRAINS!!!!
If I had known this was for such a good cause I probably wouldn’t have had Scapula going insane and trying to kill people. Oh well! Live and learn!
What a great idea. Too bad you weren’t in it this year.
Thanks Tracy…there is always next year and my own charity drive as well.
