  • Election Bumper Stickers

    Obama or Romney Bumper Stickers

It is election season in the United States.  Your choices (not including 3rd party candidates) are either President Obama or Mitt Romney.  You can decide in the comments or decide with your wallet and show your support to the world because I have put these images on Bumper Stickers for a limited time only.

If you are for President Barack Obama and Joe Biden, you might want to show the world that Mitt Romney is a notorious flip-flopper (where is John Kerry to attempt to keep his crown)

Or maybe you are for Mitt Romney.  In 2008 many people joined now President Obama in his quest for “HOPE”, a slogan of his campaign.  Now I am hearing many who voted for him in 2008 have simply “LOST HOPE”

What say you?   Of course politics can get heated so if you prefer to just say “nice bumper stickers” in the comments, I’ll understand.  And if you choose to vote with your wallet, I won’t give up your vote.

  • Editorial Cartoon: Olympic Sponsorships

    Editorial Cartoon Olympic Sponsorships

The Cartoonist Studio Editorial Cartoon Contest continues and I made it to week EIGHT!!  Thanks to all for voting.  Click the image above or here to go to the voting.  You should do a search of “Bearman” and my cartoon will come up front and center and then vote.  Again, as long as I stay in the contest, there will be two editorial cartoons a week to vote on – Mondays and Thursdays.   Oh and you can vote multiple times in each round if you want (resets every six hours) until EOD Tuesday.

OK kids after some heavy posts last week, I thought we were all due for some lightening up with today’s editorial cartoon.  The Olympics are in full swing in London.  I love the Olympics and everything about it.  And I completely understand the International Olympic Committee working hard to protect its brand from those who try to profit off it illegally.  But are they too heavy handed?  While reading the Popehat Blog a few weeks back (I highly recommend it if you are into whats going on with the law and rights) and came across a quote from this article:

Olympics organisers have warned businesses that during London 2012 their advertising should not include a list of banned words, including “gold”, “silver” and “bronze”, “summer”, “sponsors” and “London”, if they give the  impression of a formal connection to the Olympics. See examples of banned and allowed advertising below.

I have heard of some crazy things they have tried to do in the name of protecting the brand including telling butcher shops not to display their sausage in the shape of the Olympic rings or trying to ban vendors from selling chips (fries) around the Olympic venues because of their McDonald’s sponsorship.  They backed off from the latter.

However another quote from the London Organizing Committee rings true

“These rights are acquired by companies who invest millions of pounds to help support the staging of the Games…People who seek the same benefits for free – by engaging in ambush marketing or producing counterfeit goods – are effectively depriving the Games of revenue.”

Thus….giving birth to today’s cartoon.  Why not take the sponsorship that one step further?

The other day I came across a posting by former Star Trek guy and techy Wil Wheaton promoting what he refers to as Don’t Be a Dick Day.  It was Sunday.  Were you?  Shame on you.  Make up for it today.  This was the image I created for it that was actually shared by Mr Wheaton on Google Plus.

Occupy 2012 Baby New Year Cartoon

Happy New Year to all. Hope you have a healthy 2012 so we can all be here for 2013 to do it all over again.

  • Guest Cartoon: Calamities of Nature

Head over to Tony Piro’s Calamities of Nature to see my guest cartoon that I did for his contest.  My topic was about 2012 and the end of the Mayan Calendar.

I wasn’t a winner by a long shot but Tony felt shamed into posting my cartoon anyway since I took the time to enter.  🙂

I’ll post it here in a few days.

    ALSO

I don’t know how she found it but Midwest Mom over at hmmm-sweet-splendid-wisdom has found a picture of me and posted it on her site.  Go check it out here.

  • Bearman Cartoon: 2012 and the End of Days AGAIN

Daryl Cagle has coined the term “Yahtzee” to refer to when 5 or more editorial cartoonists do the same gag. One he has ragged on in the past is using the “I’m with stupid” shirts on a cartoon. I have no idea who he is referring to..he he. In honor of that, I like to coin my own new phrase “Blue Ribbon.” When a cartoonist is the first to latch onto a new topic.

I did a 20 second search of google and haven’t found anything poking fun at the next set of conspiracy theory doomsday predictors – 2012. I saw the movie trailer this past week and thought it was well done. Then I made a trip to the bookstore and noticed all the books on the subject (even one that is a How To Survive 2012 book).

The basic gist is that there is a belief that because the Mayan calendar ends in December of 2012 that somehow they predicted the end of the world. One theory is that we will have a major catastrophe caused by the shifting of the North and South poles. I have even heard Nostradamus’ name thrown out. Didn’t he predict the end of days before during the turn of the century…didn’t come true. Sadly I think this will become worse than Y2K.

So if you see a 2012 editorial cartoon online somewhere that was published before mine, let me know and I’ll gladly hand over my Blue Ribbon.
