    T-Rex Arms Cartoon

Bearman-Cartoons-T-Rex-Arms-Dinosaur-Cartoon1000widthjpgSo yesterday’s post on Alligator Arms got some discussion from several people on social media that they had not used the term but instead use T-Rex Arms or Dinosaur Arms to describe someone who is cheap and can’t seem to reach their wallet when it is their turn to buy a round or pick up the check in a restaurant.

So I always aim to please.  When was the last time I posted twice in a week, let alone back to back days.  You are welcome. haha.

    Alligator Arms Defined Cartoon

Alligator Arms Cartoon by Bearman CartoonsThe phrase “Alligator Arms” (or Dinosaur Arms) is one my friends and I have used for years to describe our other cheap friends.   Seems Urban Dictionary has the same idea.  Everyone know this person.  Either they fail to ever pick up the check when you go out or when it is their turn to buy a round of drinks, suddenly they are in the bathroom (or have already went home).   Worse was a coworker I once had who would look at the check and figure out exactly how much he owed to the penny and put in exactly 15% for the tip.   What he always failed to do was consider that his meal was taxed and the rest of us would always have to pick up his shortcomings.  I learned to ask for separate checks after a while.

So any of you know some Alligator Arms?  Are you one?  Might do more of these cartoons so any suggestions (try to keep them clean) on other phrases you know or came across on Urban Dictionary?

Game of Clones – Parody Mashup of Star Wars and Game of Thrones

Bearman Cartoons Parody Game of Thrones and Star Wars

Next week is the start of the 4th season of HBO’s Game of Thrones.  I am typically not a fan of this type of genre.  Thought the Hobbit was OK and didn’t like any of the Lord of the Rings.  Just not my style.  Yet something attracted me to Game of Thrones that made me a fan.  And of course I always loved Star Wars so “Game of Clones” was a perfect parody mash-up of Yoda sitting on a throne of Clonetroopers (as opposed to Stormtrooper) helmets and Light Sabers.  True fan boys will probably tell me I was off on one or the other but I claim artistic license.

From start to finish this took approximately 6-7 hours over two nights.  One of my most ambitious art projects to date.  An hour was just sketching different ideas of what Yoda would be sitting on.  Had I known what I was getting into when I started I wouldn’t have.  But lucky for you I finished.  🙂

  • Why Cats are Assholes

    Why Cats are Assholes

Why Cats are Assholes by Bearman CartoonsNot much needs to be added to this cartoon.  Whether you love cats or hate them….they are ASSHOLES.   Why is it that cats can sleep 9 hours of their day on hardwood floors and yet when they have to vomit up a hairball they nonchalantly move over to the carpet, the couch or the bed?

  • When Blueheads meet Eggheads Cartoon

    When Blueheads meet Eggheads Cartoon

When Google Plus Blue Heads meet up with Twitter EggheadsOn twitter when you don’t have a profile picture attached to your account the default image is an egg thus those without a picture are known as “eggheads”  On Google Plus those without a profile pic are called “Blueheads” since that is the image of what shows up.  So today’s cartoon is based on what I would imagine they talk about when they get together.  Lament the fact that no one is following them back.

Based on my crack research, I have determined that people are 87% less likely to follow you back on either social media outlet if you don’t have a profile picture whether it be a real picture or a cartoon one.  OK I have no idea where the 87% comes from except that I am 87% less likely to circle someone back without a profile picture.

It takes a short amount of time and it becomes a way of identifying you easily as I stream through my feeds.

Sorry to anyone I typically visit their blog.  Been busy several weeks and hard to jump from blog to blog on tablet to comment but I have been lurking and if you post your links on G+ (for those who use it) I am more likely to see and easily respond there.  Hell it took me 5 days to respond to comments on my own site.

    Internal Thermostat Cartoon

Bearman Cartoons Hot and Cold in Bed Internal ThermostatMy wife said no one but me would get today’s cartoon because I must be the only one that can go to bed and be chilled and in the middle of the night tear the covers off me because I am burning up.  I said she was the odd one who went to sleep and woke up cold even though she insists we keep our house on 73 degrees in the winter.

How can I even be chilled when going to bed?   Well, my mother said my wife has wussified me because when I was living with my parents the thermostat barely went over 67.

Anyone else get the night sweats?

It was announced today that Nestle has voluntarily recalled two varieties of Hot Pockets.   For those who follow comedian Jim Gaffigan, you may know that he is known for his bits about loving Hot Pockets.

Wouldn’t Charlton Heston be proud that Jim would hold on to that Hot Pocket until you pry it from his cold dead hands?

  • Sagging Mattress Cartoon

    Sagging Mattress Cartoon

Bearman Cartoons Sagging Mattress CartoonIt is a well known fact that women tend to take over the bed at night.  It is true in my house as well.   I call my wife a “starfish” as she makes sure to take up as much room with her small frame as she possibly can in the bed.  Add a couple cats in the mix and poor Bearman is smashed up against the edge of his side of the bed.

Recently my wife has been saying we need a new mattress because no matter how many times we turn the mattress my side of the bed is always sagging.  REALLY???!!!!

  • Anti Social Media Cartoon

    Anti Social Media Cartoon

WTF-Look-Social-Media-Bearman-CartoonsEver get that WTF face when checking out Facebook or Google Plus like in today’s cartoon?   I do.  It is annoying as hell on Facebook because those are my “friends” I am commenting on their posts so it isn’t like I can dump them without hurt feelings.   Though usually on FB it is isolated and not consistent among the same friend.

But it seems to be worse on Google Plus as you don’t have to be friends with someone to follow their posts (as they don’t necessarily have to follow you back).  There are plenty of people that I follow on Google Plus who don’t follow me back but I have two rules that I look for to continue following them.

    1. Be present.  Broadcasters who post but never respond to comments on their post are not worth my time.  And I don’t think you have to respond to every comment, but a chosen few shows that you actually read the comment.   And speaking of reading the comments….

    2. I try to always plus every comment on my posts as a way to say thank you for leaving the comment and acknowledge you took the time to write.  That is unless it is a douche/troll comment and then I ignore it.  That being said there seem to be some people who will post and plus every comment but a few.  To me that says you only want to engage with certain people.  Just recently uncircled someone who has on three occasions ignored my relevant non douchey comment while plussing every other comment consistently.   I get the hint!!

What other moments on the web cause you to have the WTF face??

  • State of the Disillusioned Cartoon

    State of the Disillusioned Cartoon

1-29-Bearman-Cartoon-President-Obama-CEO-UnemploymentSo President Barack Obama had his State of the Union (or as I prefer State of the Disillusioned) address yesterday where he talks about his plans for the coming year.  Everything was a typical Presidential address and nothing I heard that was new.   However one comment he made did make me chuckle:

That’s why I’ve been asking CEOs to give more long-term unemployed workers a fair shot at new jobs, a new chance to support their families. And in fact, this week many will come to the White House to make that commitment real.

Sure CEO’s have the power to set direction but I found it funny as most CEO’s (especially in the larger sized companies that would garner a White House invite) are probably out of touch with hiring decisions anyway.   And do we really need to have them fly to the White House to get their buy-in?  More sad is that he has three years left in his term and already they are calling him a lame duck President.  Ouch.  Congress (both sides of the aisle) needs to quit waiting for the next best thing to get things done.
