WWE Signs

As promised (or threatened), I am posting all of the signs I made for the live WWE Raw taping on Monday night.  I can now say that my work has been seen on worldwide television as they made it all over the telecast (see below for links).

With the exception of Orton and Sheamus, I aimed to focus on those who tend not to have many signs made but who I could guarantee would be there.  Here they are with explanation of who they are for the non-wrestling fans:

Randy Orton:

Made for the female fans (and held up by a female), Randy’s finishing move is called the RKO. Here is the sign and a shot of him from ringside.

Randy Orton - RKO ME

Sheamus:

The first Irish born WWE Champion.  Hated by the crowd and loved by me, he is called the Human Jar of Mayonaisse by fans and fellow wrestlers because of his whiteness as he goes against type and does not spend time in the tanning bed.

Santino Marella:

Less known for his in ring action and more for his comedic bits, Santino is a fan favorite but you don’t see many signs of his. He wrestled in a match for Thursday nights airing of Superstars so remains to be seen if this sign made it.   There is a group of newbies that go by the name Nexus.  The slogan on the back of their shirts is “You’re either Nexus or against us” ergo:

Santino Marella Nexus spoof Sign

Mark Henry:

One of the most underutilized wrestlers today.  Has won the Worlds Strongest Man contest and while he was a “bad guy” was unstoppable.  Now as a “good guy” he is lost in the shuffle.

Mark Henry Oh Henry Sign

Michael Cole:

Ringside play by play announcer for the WWE.  Michael tends to get little respect from the WWE universe but I think he is great and wanted him to get his due props.  One of his classic lines during any match is to say “Vintage ______ (fill in wrestler’s name here)”  So I created this:

WWE Michael Cole Vintage

I then cut out a rectangle and attached a round piece behind it with different wrestlers names so it could be fitting for many different matches.    See what I mean with this image:

WWE Announcer Michael Cole Caricature saying Vintage Cena

(the crowd silhouette, I got as free stock from somewhere but can’t find where I wrote it down.  If someone comes across the source, let me know and I’ll add it)

On Camera Moments

For an official WWE pic of the Orton sign click here and go to pic number 12 of 17.

For an official WWE pic of the Mark Henry sign click here and go to the last image (number 19) and look behind Edge’s left elbow

See the Mark Henry sign in video action here and go to 1:54.  You’ll see it right behind Edge.

  2. George says:

You’re gettin’ famous there, Bearman! I’m proud of ya! That’s a nice way to take advantage of a whole, ‘nother forum. Smart idea! 😀

    • Bearman says:

Thanks G. Sometimes I struggle with the fact that I dont’ just do editorial cartoons anymore as it may turn some people away with my A.D.D. posting a cartoon on day, a sign another, a tshirt the third.

  3. Nate Fakes says:

Now all you need is a stool with a Bearman picture on it that can be permanently implanted on a wrestlers face when his foe slams it into him. THAT would be some great publicity!

  4. SpilledInkGuy says:

    Sweet! Vintage Bearman! 🙂

  5. jillsy says:

    can i touch you??

  6. Roland says:

Those are awesome signs, I wish I had those when I went years ago. You should do some vintage pictures/signs for the hell of it. Would really like to see your take on some of the oldies but goodies. Old Skool Y2J, The Rock, Kane, then even further back, Hillbilly Jim, Piper, Iron Shiek, Sgt Slaughter… hmmn… I may do that myself… 😀

  7. susi spice says:

But I didn’t like him very much.

  11. jb says:

Hey Bearman glad to know that there is another WWE fan out there in cartoon land. Love the signs. You do good work my friend. Keep it up.

  12. Friggin Loon says:

When you said here’s a shot of him “from ringside” I thought you meant …ah never mind 🙁

  13. Friggin Loon says:

I feel like I have walked into a man cave!!!! Sheez, and you were pulling the piss because I liked Toddlers and Tiaras …. blahahahahaha at least that’s real !!!!

So how do they choose who wins … pick the longest nose hair?

Kidding Bearman, kidding. Me thinks I have had too much caffeine today 🙂

  14. FJ says:

Nice job Bear, congrats are in order.

  15. Tony says:

Congratulations on your TV coverage. You did a great job of those cartoon signs. I love the Human Jar Of Mayo & are those rubber jocks Randy Orton is wearing in the photo???

  16. Chris W. says:

Awesome signs, Bearman! My kid would’ve loved to have been there. I’m not as big of a fan since all of my favorite wrestlers are either doing movies or are just too old these days =(

  17. Bo Lumpkin says:

You never cease to amaze me. My,My,My… Is there no end to your talents.

  18. These are cool.
i always liked wrestling but growing up without sky, my options were limited

  19. Dan says:

I miss Andre The Giant, Ted Debiase and the Hulk (before his kid killed a guy)!

  20. Gruff Guano says:

Your caricatures are awesome as usual, Bearman. That Henry is hilarious.

About the subject, … there’ no doubt that WWE wrestle mania champs are strong and efficient athletes… but it’s like watching puppetry for toddlers. When I feel the passive blood sport urge, I watch K1 on TV. Or the odd cage fight footage on YouTube, equally spectacular. Bread and circuses. It’s in our nature.

  21. Sheila Deeth says:

Cool. So you’ve conquered the international airwaves. Congratulations.

  22. Is it wrong that I’d like Randy to RKO me ’til the break of dawn?? Sorry, that was inappropriate.

Seriously though – you’re awesome. These are such great drawings. I hope one day I’m famous, and I can pay you hundreds of thousands of dollars to caricature me. You’d have a field day with my nose. It’s very Victorian.
