    So the final winner of my caricature contest was the Friggin Loon.  There is no one with a more hidden identity on the web than she.  But a few key details have sprang forth via her talkative friends (ahem Susi Spice)

    • She is obsessed with all things Kim Jong Il
    • She has wild crazy hair
    • She creates her own tear gas.  How about that for a WMD (Weapon of Mass Disgusting)

    So I think in reality the Friggin Loon IS Kim Jong Il’s female identity.  Who else would give themselves so much press.

  • Rent Textbooks & Binky Caricatures

    Third and fourth winners of my 500th post caricature contest are up today.  First is the loveable Binky from Peter Marinacci’s Wombania.   Peter was too shy for a caricature so he asked the rocket and chocolate loving Binky to stand in for him.

    Next up is the person that many thought was a spammer.  I mean who goes by the name “Rent Textbooks“.  Somehow I realized her comments were just a little smarter than a typical spammer so I kept her from the dump pile.  It has paid off and now not only is she a regular commenter but she is allowing me to out her publicly on my site.  First up is the caricature:

    It didn’t help my cause that she sent me three completely different looks. ha   She said she was a big fan of the water and the beach thus the setting.

    Some final good news.  So many times you see great bloggers and cartoonists give up the web for other things.  One of them was one of the first followers of Beartoons, Brogan from Artic Blast Comic.  Well I am happy to say he is back.  The site url is the same but the name is changed to Inkee Doodles Studios.  Go show him some love.

  • Nurse Myra Caricature

    So the first caricature winner victim, is Nurse Myra from Gimcrack Hospital.   Myra is not a real nurse (so I think) and Gimcrack is not a real Hospital.  Instead Myra searches the web to find you incredible stories of medicine, murder and mischief.   Remember when I said NOT to have expectations too high with my caricatures.  I literally laughed out loud after sending the caricature to Myra and getting this response.

    Hey that’s pretty good! Not flattering but it’s a definite likeness.

  • 500 Posts! – Free Caricature Giveaway

    My previous post was number 500 of my blog that started in the winter of 2008.  So to commemorate I am doing a caricature giveaway.   You have until midnight Saturday SEPTEMBER 17 to enter (for those of you who are slow to check in).

    All you need to do is comment on this post and tell me what your favorite of the past 500 posts has been and why.   Simple.  Head to the archive to get started if you are newer around here.  Winner will be drawn and posted on Sunday.  Winner agrees to let me post their picture and finished work so think about that before you enter.  If you win and you want a celebrity caricature instead of you, I will make that happen.

    Zombie lovers like Mark Stokes of Zombie Boy Comics might like my latest cartoon and first ever Zombie.  The poor unfortunate soul with his head ripped off is one Byron Rempel, a zombie drawing loving artist I found on Google+.  (His site and his G+ Profile)  For the last many weeks, Byron has been on a race to zombify any and every Google+ user.  So I figured the tables needed to be turned.

    He has gotten so many requests lately that he set up some weird auction thing that I can’t figure out how it works, so you can be really really nice to him or you have exactly 4 days left to PAY to be immortalized by him.  Right now he is looking to put YOUR face on a tshirt.    For $25 you can have your face among the many on the tshirt he is designing and get a 5×7 watercolor of your mug.  Go to his Indigogo campaign before end of Saturday.

    Today’s caricature is of the lovely and talented Britteny of Blunt Delivery fame.  And here is what she really looks like with one of her many exes.  (Yeah I hotlinked it Brit…so what?)

    This is how she reacted on Facebook when I told her to check her email for her caricature.

       OMG!  Um. i love it but kinda feel like i look like a guy

       All my caricatures look like guys  (which is true but so do all of the Simpson’s women and that makes money)

      Is this a belated bday present or just a “try not to jump off a cliff” present

      Whatever you want.   Either works.    Like the tshirt you are wearing??

      That has many implications. haha  Wasn’t sure if it was making fun of my broken engagements, or my Neil paranoia.

    If you want to know more about her fear of commitment (though she is now engaged) and her hatred of the great one – Neil Diamond, then you’ll have to visit her blog.

    ***UPDATE***

    So my wife saw my poor attempt at making fun of my friend Brit and yelled at me (well not really yelled but rather saying I sucked as a caricaturist, I went way too far and needed to do right by that girl).  “She is much prettier than that”  So to keep peace in the home of my biggest critic.

  • Lindsay and Tony Caricature

    Lindsay was the winner of my Facebook caricature contest.  She didn’t make it easy, sending me four different pictures that show she changes her hair color more than Duncan changes his underwear.  But here is my result (including one of the original pics)

     I asked Lindsay what she liked to do and besides hanging with her kids, she said drink wine and procrastinate…thus the name on the wine.

    And just because I had some time last week, I went and caricatured a Beartoons regular, Tony McGurk (sans the beard in the pic because usually he is more manscaped than this).  Check out Tony’s own cartoon stylings at TMComics.

    That’s right, it is back. You can win a digital caricature of you, a friend, your dog or your favorite celebrity.   This is an exclusive contest for those following Beartoons on Facebook.  Don’t worry for those of you who don’t have Facebook, I will be doing other contests soon.

    Here are the guidelines:

    • Go to the Beartoons Facebook Page and hit the Like Button
    • Add a comment there that you want to be included in the contest
    • Share the contest with your Facebook friends for an additional entry.  Let me know in the FB comments
    • Enter by Midnight Tuesday July 5.
    • Winner will get a free digital version of their caricature.  Use it as a gravatar, on facebook or however you would like.

    Entrants must allow me to use one of their source pictures in a blog post to show the results and as always my disclaimer is there is no guarantees that you will think the finished product looks anything like you.  But that is a better guarantee (and price) than those crappy street caricature artists give.

    So after I posted the caricature I did for my 1000th Twitter follower, my good friend George of Addanac City was bitching, moaning, pleading, begging, wondering when I might finally get around to doing a caricature of him.  So I was playing around on my ipad and did a little sketch that I sent to him.  I told him to be patient and I would finish it soon enough.

    Is George patient.  NO!  Go see how he tortured my work trying to color it himself.   Didn’t color in the mustache, half an eyebrow not filled it.  But of course he went overtime on the background. 

    Anyway, I finally finished it (I kept his theme for the background).  And now that it is finished, I realized that he and his character Hank have the same eyes.
