Commenter Word Cloud – Tagxedo

Tagxedo Word Cloud of Bearman Cartoons Frequent Commenters

So I found a very fun site that George Ford will now yell at me for him wasting countless hours playing there.  Tagxedo not only lets you create word clouds but also allows you to create custom shaped word clouds.    I created a list of my top commenters over this year.  By duplicating the names of the most frequent commenters in my list, it allows you to see them bigger than the rest.  And the custom shape?  You might recognize it as the silhouette of my famous green hair gravatar.

What is nice is that Tagxedo will take your blog or twitter feed and automatically create a word cloud for you.

Right now adding custom shapes, like my gravatar, is free while it is in Beta but head over and check out this video on 101 Ways you can use Tagxedo.

  2. jynksie Avatar

Had I not read the explanation below, I would have had NO understanding why I see little “Jynksies” all over that thing. Kind of cool that is, but then again, any mention of me I find cool! [grin]

    1. Bearman Avatar

If I ever see a bunch of little Jynksies all over the place, I’ll wonder why the vasectomy didn’t hold.

      1. jynksie Avatar

o.O …. I cant top that one! [smirk]

    1. Bearman Avatar

I think you could do something cool with a custom word cloud based on a photograph.

  4. Friggin Loon Avatar

OMG, does my ass look fat in green?

    1. Friggin Loon Avatar

No seriously, I swear it has added on friggin inches!!!!!

      1. Bearman Avatar

What do you mean…only “in green”?

  5. Binky Avatar

That’s pretty neat! I guess you have Binky on your brain. If you altered it a bit, LOOn or GeOrge FOrd could have been your eyes.

    1. Bearman Avatar

I didn’t have control over the placement of the words. It is random to fill in the space.

Definitely. It was only from the 1st half of the yaar. You will be all over the second.

  9. nursemyra Avatar

Oooh I see I’m duplicated all over the place…. makes all that commenting worthwhile 😉

    1. Bearman Avatar

Don’t want to burst your bubble. I had it replicate names to fill in the blank spaces..haha

That s really cool, I see me there a few times 🙂

    1. Bearman Avatar

Most casual readers would look at that name and figure I let a spammer get through.

      1. rent textbooks Avatar

Yea but there is a difference, I am an actual person and what I do is fun, and takes a lot of time, but I do get looked at as a spammer sometimes. It is something that bothers me, but its the nature of the game. It does suck though cause I read a ton of blogs and post comments only to not get accepted. So seriously Thanks! I really do appreciate it.

        1. Bearman Avatar

I was quick to figure out you were smarter than a spammer.

  14. Young American Wisdom Avatar

Love it! I’ll head over and check it out.

    1. Bearman Avatar

      You may not come back.

  15. lisleman Avatar

I like word clouds but they did become a fad and were overused years ago.
But it’s nice to see my name in a word cloud.
    thanks

    1. Bearman Avatar

Only second to one day seeing your name in lights.

  16. Scholar Mel Avatar

I must not leave enough comments. I don’t see my name 🙁

    1. Bearman Avatar

I think you slacked off the first couple months of the year.

      1. Scholar Mel Avatar

Slacked off!? I moved and I didn’t have access to the internet at the beginning of the year.

Come on Bear, I thought you were like Santa Claus and knew when I was sleeping, when I moved, when I didn’t have internet connection, when I took a dump.

Geez, maybe I should take you off the pedestal. 😉

        1. Bearman Avatar

Obviously I remembered when you weren’t around. Oh and your wife says to tell you that you left the light on again when you left the house.

          1. Scholar Mel Avatar

You remembered me! Now I feel loved 🙂

I usually just leave the stove on. I’m so scatter brained.

          2. Bearman Avatar

As long as your head isn’t inside.

  17. GrammyMouseTails Avatar

What a unusual character of yourself… many peoples on your mind? I do like it, tho… I see a few repeats, for being fill ins they add a nice complexion to your cloud 😉

    1. Bearman Avatar

Yeah since I only limited it to the top 20, I had some space to fill in. Thanks!

  18. Jason Avatar

Nice! I better get catch up so I can save some “face” for myself.

    1. Bearman Avatar

I think I see you starting to come out of my nose. Wait no. That is a booger.

  19. George Avatar

Ooh! I love how the cloud appears to be in the shape of your head! It’s almost lopsided, but it works its way back to correction around the neck. Where do you get these fancy toys that mesmerize me so? 😀

    1. Bearman Avatar

I’ll see you in a few days once you come up for air.

  20. Hjörtur Hjartarson Avatar

    Haha, This is fun 🙂

    1. Bearman Avatar

I am the king of wasting time on the internet.

  21. Mark Stokes Avatar

That’s one thing about you, Bearman, you don’t mind sharing your new toys. Interesting site. Thanks!

    1. Bearman Avatar

Now if I created this site, I might make you pay for it.

  22. Nef Avatar

    Boo! I’m not even a tiny speck…

    1. Bearman Avatar

You might have been number 22.

  23. Frank M Hansen Avatar

Cool. I’m always happy to see my name so I can get the slight pause – “hey that guy has the same name as me, of wait, that is me.”

    1. Bearman Avatar

There is only one. You are an original.

  24. Warren Frantz Avatar

I’ve used a website similar to this for a teaching tool. The largest words appeared the most often, so the students could figure out the main characters of the story, or main ideas, etc. based on the size of text. Very cool stuff!

    1. Bearman Avatar

Very interesting to do it with poetry. Also not a bad idea for your resume to see what key words pop up most.
