So it is now November 4, 2020 and as expected neither President Trump nor Vice President Biden has locked in the Presidency for the next four years. So we wait, and argue, and wait and point fingers. Sigh.

The Boycott Culture – Is it hurting American Business?
Boycott Culture is alive and well in America. I have no problems with a person choosing to boycott any business that they don’t agree with the practices thereof, however I do have a problem when you assume I should be boycotting the business as well or I am a bigot, racist, sexist, or any other form of -ist.
It used to be that boycotts were used as a means for cultural change. Now it is used to act out personal grievances. Dennis Wyatt states in a recent editorial: ” Instead of being well-thought-out and organized efforts such as lettuce and grape boycotts organized by real change agents such as Cesar Chavez, most of the ones popping up today are from folks acting on the spur of the moment hearing someone say something they don’t like.”
Because Uber CEO, Travis Kalani, was part of a Trump Advisory committee, people started demanding #deleteuber boycotts. No one bothered to find out if Kalani was in full agreement with Trump or was trying to promote favor with the President. No. He had any kind of association with a President people don’t like so we should automatically boycott his company. Now people are calling for boycotts of Tesla because Elon Musk hasn’t stepped down from the advisory board. His response is one people should hear: “Activists should be pushing for more moderates to advise President, not fewer. How could having only extremists advise him possibly be good?” Exactly. If you make anyone who might be able to have a voice of reason advise the President too scared to try, all you will get is people who don’t care what you think and are to the extreme in their viewpoints.
You have people boycotting Norstrom because they stopped carrying Ivanka Trump’s line and people boycotting Bloomingdales because they still do. You have artists who will boycott Israel (Roger Waters) declaring it is because of human rights issues but have no problem performing in Russia, China, or Saudi Arabia.
In the end it diminishes what a true boycott is and should be. So for now, I am boycotting the boycotts.

Wasted Votes
Wasted Vote for a third party or write-in candidate or spoiler for certain parties candidacies? Everyone blames Ralph Nader for Gore losing the 2000 election but no one tends to bring up the fact that if it weren’t for Ross Perot, we probably would have had another Bush Sr. term.
Electorally it looks like Hillary Clinton should have a lock on the election. But assuming it is close as it was in 2000 and a third party candidate should win just one state allowing for neither Clinton or Trump to reach 270 Electoral Votes. Then it goes to congress to decide among the top THREE electoral vote getters. Given the disdain for Trump and the fear Clinton could spell doom for the Democrats in 2020, Congress may want a third party to give them time to fix their own parties over the next four years.

Trump – Wrath of Khan
Donald Trump must be feeling the Wrath of Khan himself for comments he made after the Democratic National Convention last week. His choice comments about the parents of slain United States soldier, Humayun Khan, has him feeling the wrath from both Republicans and Democrats.
Much like Admiral James T. Kirk (usually known as Captain Kirk in most movies) in Star Trek Wrath of Khan, Trump is facing a nemesis with the same name (though last name not first). Whatever frustration he is feeling, once again he brought it on himself.

Donald J Trump has decided that Indiana Governor Mike Pence should be his Vice Presidential candidate. Much like no one checking Melina’s speech before it was delivered at the convention for potential issues regarding plagiarism of Michelle Obama, did no one think that Trump Pence could be shortened to TP which is itself a acronym for Toilet Paper.

Trump the Grinch
Is Donald Trump the Grinch? His continual fear mongering to win support for his Presidential run garners a lot of press and quite a few supporters. However, his current rants against Muslims, including barring any Muslims from entering the country and starting a database on those who are already here, reminds me of Senator Joseph McCarthy in the 1950’s. McCarthyism created unsubstantiated claims that certain people were Communists causing the accused to lose their jobs or careers.
So what better time of year than to mashup Trump with the Grinch. How the Grinch Stole Christmas has a great song called “You’re a mean one Mr Grinch” which you can listen the first verse here.
