    Yeezy Peasy

Editorial Cartoon by Bearman showing President Donald Trump angry at the possibility of losing the youth and African American vote to Biden so he calls Kanye West to run for President.

When President Donald Trump needs a plan sometimes it comes to him Yeezy Peasy.

Back in 2015 Kanye West stated at the MTV Music Awards that he would run for President of the United States in 2020. Five years later his good friend Donald Trump is President and the numbers don’t look so “bigly” for his reelection campaign. So how would you try to pull away votes from your opponent Joe Biden. Best thing to do is target those who overwhelmingly identify as Democrats (and wouldn’t be voting for Trump anyway) such as Millennials and African Americans by given them another option. Which led to this announcement from West this week:

Obviously Kanye is joking and isn’t running because IMO there is no way he can get enough boots on the ground to get on the ballot as a third party candidate (unless he plans only write-in). But conspiracy theorists are talking.

If you pay attention to President Donald Trump you will notice a pattern in his negotiation tactics.  He will have a point of view that is unchangeable and if he gets any resistance to that point of view he will act out (or tweet out) to an extreme position.  This forces any negotiations to pull to his favor.  Sometimes this works out (North Korea) and sometimes it doesn’t (The Wall/Immigration).  If he moves to a “10” as the cartoon suggests on immigration, he is assuming the Democrats will give him the money for his border wall and then he will back off on the extremes with mass deportations and separating families at the border.

What he didn’t expect was the backlash not only from his same party but seemingly from his own household.  But keep in mind this negotiation style will continue on trade and other political footballs.
