  • Please find me the guy who bought this

I spend some time traveling for work and end up on airplanes.  The worst part of the trip is the time from when they say stow your electronic devices until we actually reach the gate.  It seems that this part of the trip is longer than any other.   So in that long down time, I tend to read and reread SkyMall magazine.

They have weird stuff in there but the weirdest has to be this thing.

    Big Foot the Garden Yeti
    Big Foot the Garden Yeti
Does someone actually BUY this stuff that they have listed in the magazine for over a year.  Props to the first person who can provide evidence that this is sitting in your friends/neighbors yard somewhere in the world.
  • Twitter screws up your relationships

See if my previous post wasn’t enough…USA Today has an article in todays paper talking about how people rely too much on social networks like Twitter and Facebook while ignoring the people sitting right in front of them.

    I love the line:

As it turns out, some celebrity Twitterers — Britney Spears, 50 Cent, Kanye West, Barack Obama — have hired ghostwriters to supply their tweets because they’re just too busy

Come on!  Really!  Are you that impressed with yourself that you need someone else to make your life sound more interesting than it is.  Read the article here.

  • Bearman Breaks Down….Joins Twitter

With all the projects I am working on, I figured I would finally have to join the ranks of Twitter.  I know, probably by now the masses have moved on to the next cool thing but I have resisted long enough.

For those who follow this blog I have only found a few of you to follow via Twitter.

So if you are looking for me on Twitter I am at

    http://twitter.com/BearmanCartoons

I don’t plan on overusing  because:

    a.  Have too much other things to do like draw and/or do actual work that I get paid for
    b.  Don’t want to be a slave to Twitter like my friend Michael seems to think he has become.
    c.  Don’t care when you are wiping your butt so I am sure you don’t care when I am either.

But I will use to update on when I post something new or do something really newsworthy.  Like rescue a baby from a burning fire.

  • Extending Album Art Gallery

Some of us old enough to remember albums can remember listening to records and staring at the album art.  Well thanks to a tip from Hongkiat, you can see a gallery of “extended” album art.

It seems that B3TA.com had a contest to have posters “show us what happens beyond the borders of classic album sleeves”.

See all the entrants here but one of my favorites from P3te is:

    Queen

  • The Gloomers

Sorry I have been a turd about posting and responding to comments this week.

I have been working some things as part of a new project I am contributing to that launches next week.

It’s call “The Gloomers” and is a new “social network” (I know I know, you can’t keep your facebook, linkedin, and myspace pages up to date as it is) and animated webisodes of a family called the Gloomers.  They are kind of a cross between the Simpsons and the Addams Family.  You can see mini webisodes on YouTube .

Now before you get all excited about how cool my animation is…note I have nothing to do with any part of that.  (including the voice overs)

The site launches on April 15 (TAX DAY in the United States) but I hope to give you a sample of some of the stuff I am working on before then, so please bear with me.

  • Zits Animated

No your acne is NOT moving.  Daily Cartoonist is reporting that Zits, the cartoon by Jerry Scott and Cincinnati’s own Jim Borgman has been animated as “audio comics”

There is a YouTube page set up that you can see them.  My only problem is with who does the voices.  Jeremy should sound like  a teenage kid living with his parents, not a 40 year old with a mortgage.

  • Naughty Superman

Frequent commenter Myra has an odd collection of items at her blog Gimrack Hospital.  She is always presenting odd medical history facts, devices or throws us completely for a loop with her fetish or corset posts.   There is a post over at Drawn.ca that talks about a new book that is a compilation of toons drawn by Superman creator Joe Shuster which made me think of her.

It seems the rights to Superman were no longer his so in order to make ends meet, Joe decided to draw some racy cartoons for an under the counter magazine called “Nights of Horror”.  Well someone found out about it recently and decided to publish a collection called Secret Identity: The fetish art of Superman co-creator Joe Shuster. (link has examples for all you dirty minded readers)  Too bad Playboy wasn’t around yet.  He may have made a living drawing cartoons for them.

  • April Fools Day

Ok…I thought about doing some lame post (like I was giving up blogging – I could almost hear the applause if that were true) in honor of April 1 otherwise known in these parts as April Fools day.

Instead as a public service, I have decided to educate my faithful readers so they don’t get dupped on this illustrious day.

I have had Snopes in my blog roll for some time.  Want verification that an urban legend is true/false?  This is a great resource.  ex When you friend swears that you keeps emailing you the same thing over and over because Microsoft said they would pay money for it.  Obviously nothing you can say will make him stop but pointing him here might.

The other site I found recently is The Museum of Hoaxes.  It is similar to Snopes but as they explain they are “dedicated to promoting knowledge about hoaxes.  On our blog we post about dubious- sounding claims, and whatever else strikes our fancy.”  For example one recent post finds the real woman behind the Acai Berry diet pictures.  And guess what…she never took Acai Berry

Check them out before you are fooled!!!

  • The Daily Uplift

Check out my Blog Roll for the Daily Uplift. Although not “daily”, it is updated frequently with things that make you smile. Besides, I want her to get more traffic from people who actually comment on blogs as I am tired of late of being the only commenter.

I also updated my blog roll with some others as well.  Check it out.

  • The Daily Paul does it again.

I mentioned a few months ago how a guy named Rhino linked to my site from the Daily Paul, the website dedicated to former Presidential Candidate Ron Paul.  His linked spiked my hits to a record level.

Well thanks to Rhino, it looks like he has been keeping up on my little crack ass blog and posted this gem calling out their resident toonist Kevin Tuma (it’s not a Tuma) that maybe he has competition.  Rhino sorry, no competition.  His stuff looks good.

Anyway, saw a record number of hits yet again thanks to Rhino and those DailyPaul readers who checked me out…as well as my own usual gang of posters.  Now if I could only get Keith Olbermann or Bill O’Reilly to pay attention (honestly I have no shame)

    Thanks!!
