    11-13-17--Bearman-Cartoons-Jeff-Berding-FC-Cincinnati-Stadium-Deal

In Cincinnati, FC Cincinnati is a big deal.  As a young team in US minor league soccer, they have pulled attendance rivaling all but 2 of the Major League Soccer teams.   Of course, they want to be in contention then for a MLS expansion team.  According to them, the only way they can do this is to move from their rented space at the University of Cincinnati and build their own stadium.

Jeff Berding, the President of FC Cincinnati, says that they don’t want city/county funds to build the stadium but need $75 million for infrastructure improvements (gas lines, water, roads, etc) to make it work.  The local government, however, has no appetite for spending public funds on stadium projects, mostly IMO because Berding was the architect behind what is considered one of the worst stadium deals for a city in US history.  Had Berding’s name not been associated with the team it may have been an easier sell.

That being said, I am all for infrastructure costs being absorbed by the city/county, HOWEVER we should never be involved in building a parking garage/lot for a private entity which may only be used infrequently.

    Bengals Bromance T.O. and Chad

Outside of the United States you may not have heard about two of the most colorful players in American Football – Terrell Owens and Chad (Johnson) Ocho Cinco.  But since they both have reality series on VH1, they are more popular than just their speed on the gridiron.

The Cincinnati Bengals have just signed Terrell to a contract bringing him on the same team as his longtime friend Chad.  Terrell is also known by his initials – “T.O”.  Let the Bengals Bromance begin!!

BTW, anyone actually own one of those two piece friend/love necklaces?

Cincinnati Bengals coach Marvin Lewis got into a tiff about the team’s performance with a local Cincinnati Enquirer reporter at his weekly press conference.   At one point he told the reporter he wasn’t going to respond to his questions.

It seems that the hope of a revival of the lowly Cincinnati Bengals two years ago has turned into the same old thing. While still holding out hope, surprised at the number of people who still are showing up to the games.

It’s tough being a Cincinnati Bengals fan, but I don’t think people in Cleveland are feeling much better about their win on Sunday.
