Voter Apathy

Voter Apathy.  We all know it happens but it always is humorous when those who don’t take the time to get out and vote, complain about the outcome.

Believe it or not, this was originally written in 2007, the first year I started doing cartooning again.  Every once in a while, the original pops up on my radar as someone asks to share it on a blog post.  However a few weeks ago I was approached to include the image in a text book.   The more I looked at my 2007 version, the more embarrassed I was to have it included in any publication.  So I updated it using my current style.  Want to see the original?  Well here you go.

Great toon and so true. And yes, old work makes me cringe sometimes.

  2. Comedy Plus says:

    I always vote. Always.

Love the cartoon and have heard people say the exact thing.

    Have a fabulous day. 🙂

I often skip primaries but have voted in all the general fall elections. I wish the voting process was uniform across the country. I don’t care for the electoral college thing. Someday we need to fix that. Damn swing states getting all the attention. Oh the cartoons, sorry you got me ranting about elections. I like the original one. The colors I guess give you better shading. Do you still do black and white?

  4. Tony McGurk says:

It’s a no win situation unless the party you vote for loses. If you don’t vote it’s like you described. If the party you vote for wins then it’s your fault when they make bad decisions ‘cos you’re responsible for voting them into power.
Lesson of the day: Always vote for definite losers

  5. Bill Murphy says:

The only reason I vote is so that I can bitch out the outcome later. 😉

  6. Binky says:

I think our old work always makes us cringe. At least it means we’ve improved.

I think I’ll vote “NO” in our election.

  7. Scott says:

That’s actually why I began voting. I was complaining about this country’s leaders, at a meeting of my Toastmasters chapter–and one of my fellow members asked if I’d voted. I said no. He said, “Then don’t complain.” The next election (1990) I made sure I voted. I’ve voted in every election since.

  8. For the most part I stay out of American politics. I’m not American so usually when all my American friends, family and fellow bloggers are posting political I read but don’t participate in the discussion. (I confess I can’t help myself when it is about Trump. I have to engage.) As it turns out we here in Canada are about to vote for our new Parliament. So while we are being inundated with the American Presidential Campaigns we are also being inundated with the Canadian Prime Minister Campaigns. This strip is applicable to both countries and I fear it is a problem for both. Just vote!

  9. I think strips like this are good medicine. Too bad so many people don’t take their medicine! Great work.

  10. LOL so typical! and yes! omg I definitely cringe at old artwork!!

  11. Your gull in the original comic is PERFECT!

  12. frigginloon says:

    OMG…how old am I? I remember that 2007 toon 🙁

  13. jynksie says:

I’m not apathetic, I’m realistic. Oligarchy… it what this country has become.
