Apple Watch – The Good and Bad

3-24-15-Bearman-Cartoon-Apple-Watch

$350 for a watch, especially the Apple Watch isn’t unreasonable in the higher end watch category.  However, that is the starting point and the price goes up from there.  $350 is pretty unreasonable for something I have to charge every night.  Sure, I recharge my phone every night but I figure a watch should work like the Timex I had when I was a kid.  Take a licking and keep on ticking.  Then again, my phone is my watch so I haven’t worn one in years.

Yeh know, I recently traded in my flip phone [shush] for a current smart phone. I know how to make my music play, I know how to text, I know how to open/close my garage or set my alarm system with it. Darned if I could figure out how to answer it when it actually rang. [smirk] [get off my lawn technology]

  2. Comedy Plus says:

I’ve not worn a watch in years either. I used to have some very nice watches too. Now I’m going to go find all my watches with the dead batteries.

    Have a fabulous day. 🙂

  3. At least it can tell you the battery is dead!

  4. Bill Murphy says:

I wear my watches so infrequently that I stop them from running every time I wear one to avoid the battery dieing before the next time I want to wear one.

  5. Gruhn says:

I knew I didn’t want one! Thanks for backing me up on that!

  6. Deb says:

I think I’ll just stick with my wrist watch for a while longer.
    Great cartooning, Bearman!

  7. Mark Stokes says:

    Dang those little technicalities!

  8. Tony McGurk says:

I always wore a watc, one with hands that go round & round. Since I started working in a food factory we aren’t allowed any type of jewelry so the watch stays on my bedside table. I wear it on weekends. Even though the time is on my phone for some old fashioned reason I still prefer to wear a watch I was like Jynksie when I traded my old flip phonet for my touchscreen phone. The 1st time it rang I couldn’t work out how to answer it.

Your last point “phone is your watch” is why Apple will fail on this one.

  10. Jason says:

    Watch out!

  11. frigginloon says:

I use my fitbit as a watch… because that is all it is good for. LOL. One lazy assed loon 🙂

  12. David Hurley says:

Same here, my phone is my watch too.

  13. Binky says:

I still wear a watch! And my phone isn’t smart!

  14. Dave says:

I stopped wearing a watch a few years ago and my phone is about 13 or 14 years old. And I am typing this on a laptop computer. I’m so outdated…

  15. Yeah, but can it drive my car? Apple fail hahaha

    1. thank you for not making it an impossible tangled web of confusion to leave a comment. I forgot how annoying the blogosphere is as I make my way through my old blog roll to see who has kicked the bucket.
    2. I still owe you a waffle recipe.
    3. You do not have to feel obligated to leave me a comment. Because we are much better than that. Our friendship transcends the world of commenting.

    • Oh but I must, I must.

I still can’t figure out all the captcha blogs. Use a strong spam filter and it gets 99% and move on.

Yes…need my waffles. And a waffle iron

  17. Nate Fakes says:

Yeah, I don’t think I want to charge a watch every night – let alone wear one. But, I said the same thing about an iPad (although I wouldn’t wear an iPad) and vowed not to get one. Now I’m on the damn thing way too much.

  18. benzeknees says:

I had noticed a while back no one was wearing watches anymore – it took me a few days to figure out what had happened. Smack my head – it wasn’t until I consulted my own phone to figure out what time it was that the reason occurred to me.
