Actor Robin Williams passed away yesterday from an apparent suicide. Originally I was going to draw him meeting up with his mentor and friend Jonathan Winters. But then I came across this quote.
You’re only given a little spark of madness. You mustn’t lose it.
It reminds me of the basis of the movie Hook. where Peter must once again find his youthful spirit. It is that spark that allows us to dream, to see beyond our current situations to brighter days. Sadly maybe the real life Peter lost this for a minute too but sadly it was too late to refind it. Interesting Williams was also quoted as saying:
In America they really do mythologise people when they die.
May his family find comfort in the outpouring of sympathy of anyone who was impacted by Robin in any way.
I saw a quote today, “Robin Williams didn’t commit suicide, his depression killed him”. I had no idea Robin Williams had enough impact on me to feel the pinch of his loss. It’s a shame to have lost him in such a disheartening way.
Even my wife said to me, “I just can’t believe that all that energy flowing out of him, is just- gone!”

He was an amazing actor. He was outstanding in both comedy and dramatic roles. If you’ve never seen “One Hour Photo”, check that out if you’d like to see Robin Williams like you’ve never seen him before. But be warned… It’s a really creepy movie.
I heard about that one but never did actually see it. Might be time to check for it on Netflix
It was hard to process the news, Bearman. Even with this tragedy, maybe it will help shed light on the pain of Mental Illness and the pain people go through. RIP Robin.

Beautifully done. This one will take long to process. Robin Williams was a true genius. That word gets tossed around all too often but with him, it fits. There was never one like him before & there will never be another like him again. The Daily Show posted a stark Tweet that brought more emotion than any other except for Billy Crystal’s simple “No words.” Not sure if it will show up here but I’ll try…

It was until the past day or so that I realized what an impact Robin Williams had upon my developing childhood and the development and expression of my own sense of humor. He will be terribly missed.

All of Robin Williams’ work was unforgettable. But his roles in “The Fisher King” and “What Dreams May Come” had the most positive impact on me.

I only hope his tragic passing may touch the lives of people who are battling the same demons and they will seek help for themselves.

It’s tragic that some of the best people take their own lives.
And some there lives are taken too soon
It is.
But perhaps that’s why they take their own lives–they are so good, in the first place.
Ever notice the worst people almost never take their own lives?
There’s a song from the 1970’s, “Starry, Starry Night.”
It’s a beautiful song about Vincent Van Gogh.
And the last few lines go something like this:
“And when hope was not in sight on that starry, starry night, you took your life as often lovers do.
“But I could have told you, Vincent,
This world was never meant for one as beautiful as you.”
Nobody’s always good, of course, but I think there are some people who are so good (“godly” if you will)–that the world is simply not good enough for them.
I think most idiots of the world think far too much of themselves to take their own lives.
It’s a tragedy for his family to go through this. My sympathies are with them.
