Oktoberfest Tshirts

Oktoberfest Grab Sausage Tshirt

Kind of a report with some updates.  I am going to focus on creating some new shirt designs.

Long time readers may remember this shirt but given it is a top seller at the store, it is one I like to highlight each year.   This is the first t-shirt I ever designed for the store:  it depicts a guy in lederhosen carrying a large sausage.  The back say’s “Grab your Sausage and Have Fun”.

Why highlight an Oktoberfest shirt the end of August?  Well, while Munich Germany’s Oktoberfest actually runs into October (Sept 22 – October 7), Cincinnati celebrates it towards the end of September (the 21st and 22nd) and Covington, KY (right across the river from Cincinnati) celebrates September 7-9

Quick trivial facts.  Cincinnati has the largest Oktoberfest celebration in the United States.  Several years ago an astute commenter indicated that it was Canada that held the distinction of the largest outside of Germany.  However, he is wrong according to my spot Wikipedia sources.  The largest celebration outside Germany is in Blumenau, BRAZIL!  But here is where Cincinnati gets back some of it’s swagger.  Estimates for the Canadian and Brazilian Oktoberfest are in the 700,000’s.  However each lasts about a week.  Cincinnati pulls in around 500,000 people in just 2 days.  Now who drinks more?

More designs created over the years:

Okay, so October doesn’t have to be in October. Now I get it.

  7. lisleman says:

Based on my one evening in the Munich Oktoberfest I think you could replace that sausage with the other very popular food items – chicken or pretzels. Grab your pretzel sounds fun.

  9. Binky says:

The important thing is that is doesn’t clash with Wombat Day, which is October 22.

  10. Friggin Loon says:

in some cases it is grab your wiener!!!!

  11. coasterbear says:

Since the end of the year is “The Most Wonderful TIme” of the year, does that make Octoberfest the “Wurst” time?

Having been to the “world breaking, record-holding largest-at-one-time” Chicken Dance, I can verify it does indeed qualify as wurst…..

Hmmm, does the largest chicken dance qualify it as one of the largest cock fights???

    I could go on……….

    • Bearman says:

You need to go through Mt Lookout. There has been a sign for a new hotdog place up for the last 6 months that says “Prepare for the Wurst” Wurst case scenario is that place will never open…geez talk about shooting off at the mouth too early.

BTW since you are into puns…

If you go to an Oktoberfest celebration and only men showed up, could you legitimately call it a “Sausage Fest”?

  12. Wait… it’s August?
    🙂

  13. With enough alcohol all these shirts could happen. Then your arrested and into the drunk tank.

  14. DadaHyena says:

Quit showing off your wiener and jugs in public, Bearman! Duh hyuck hyuck hyuck a-durrrrrr!

Ha!!! Those Germans & their big sausages. Guess that’s why they lost the war, the extra weight slowed their soldiers down. Imagine the size of their army ration packs???

  17. starla says:

Fun designs 500,000 people in two days that is a busy event.

  18. George says:

You are the King of the One-Shot. I have to prattle on and on to make someone laugh. Why else do you thin my comics are soooo loooong? 🙂

  19. J-Dotson says:

  20. Tyler says:

Everything is right with Oktoberfest. I will be sure to have a great time with my sausage.
