Space Cadets: NASA, Mars, and Presidential Candidates

Editorial Cartoon NASA, Mars and Presidential Debates

The Cartoonist Studio Editorial Cartoon Contest continues and I made it to week EIGHT!!  Thanks to all for voting.  Click the image above or here to go to the voting.  You should do a search of “Bearman” and my cartoon will come up front and center and then vote.  Again, as long as I stay in the contest, there will be two editorial cartoons a week to vote on – Mondays and Thursdays.   Oh and you can vote multiple times in each round if you want (resets every six hours) until EOD Saturday.

Today’s editorial cartoon is a tribute to NASA and their successful landing of the probe CURIOSITY on Mars.  With all those “rocket scientists” you would think one of them could help us make sense of the Presidential Candidates and what is going to spew out of their mouths in the upcoming debates.

Good one, B! Love those stars. I gotta steal that technique soon.

I don’t think running for the presidency is a good way of detecting anything other than blatant insanity. It proves that every time. They need to establish something like a Gladiator street brawl to determine the outcome. Yeah….the Mortal Kombat Election. We’ll see who’s ready to rumble then. 🙂

    • Bearman says:

That would be a great idea. They could sell it on PPV and that would raise money to bring down the debt. I would fork over $50 to watch.

    • Bearman says:

Pick a brush and scatter the settings. Two swipes with across the page and it is done.

      • George says:

You computer artists with your fancy lingo.

I barely know what bristol board is. 🙂

        • Jande says:

Go to Brush Settings in Photoshop, George. Click on Scatter in the left column. Use sliders. Check the pic of the brush stroke at the bottom to see how much it is scattering the stroke. close the window. Save the brush if you want to keep a copy of it as a scatter brush. Otherwise it will go away. You may have to turn off the scatter for your other brushes. Check out the other six(?) settings in the Brush settings dialog box, too. Fun to play with those. :`D

          I don’t know what it is…I don’t use one.

  2. Bearman you have such a lovely sense of humour..loved it
    hugs n love 🙂

  3. Friggin Loon says:

Problem with humans is if we eventually did find intelligent life form we would probably kill it 🙁

  4. Bo Lumpkin says:

Maybe we oughta send one of them probes to Washington. I love this one.

  5. Jande says:

I think everyone should take a vacation and lay around looking at the stars –especially the politicians!

Nice looking cartoon, Bearman. Looks like you’re beginning to play around more with your brush controls. Those stars look great! :`)

    • Bearman says:

I will do anything to not have to have drawn the stars one by one. I tried laying in the grass and just got grass stains and ants.

      • George says:

I really need to YouTube some PS techniques. I know nothing. In fact, what I DO know, comes as a result from messing something else up really bad. 🙁

        • Jande says:

I’ve learned the way you have, George! But after a while I went looking for tutorials for specific things I wanted to do. They often left out some fundamental things. I’m going to be working on some short Photoshop (and maybe Gimp, also) tutorial videos for my creator buddies soon(tm). I’ll be asking you guys to beta-view them and let me know if I’ve left anything out.

      • Jande says:

Ants! Mix borax with sugar water and leave a small container of it around any nests. (also put a container in their path into your house and they’re gone, too.)

  6. starla says:

My Votes in great cartoon! Yes I agree it would be Cool. The last back and forth name calling had me really cringing.

  7. I am still waiting for my invitation to debate Obama and Romney. Then there will be a sign of intelligent life at debates.

  8. I guess it all depends on what the political advisors tell them to say! 😀

  9. Mark Stokes says:

It’s called the Curiosity, not the Miracle Maker!

  10. Comedy Plus says:

Bwahahahahahaha. Oh wait. Why am I laughing. This cartoon is spot on.

    Have a terrific day. 🙂

  11. lisleman says:

I guess it’s ok to trash Perry and Bachmann now. They make great debate comedy. BTW did you happen to see the cleavage debate controversy in Mexico’s political debate some months back?

  12. I think Bill Nye the Science Guy should go fro Prez!

  13. Nemesis says:

    beerman
monday i went to the Cartoonist Studio site
and the contest is called the Political Cartooning Contest. yours wasn’t too political with Billy S and TSA or was it?
Your header (on top) calls it Political too.
Yours was an editorial. Today”s is correct.

    • Bearman says:

Web dictionary definition is “An editorial cartoon, also known as a political cartoon, is an illustration or comic strip containing a political or social message, that usually relates to current events or personalities.”

TSA being a government institute makes it political. The way they interact with a famous personality makes it newsworthy.

So the big question is whether or not you voted for me…haha

  14. Deb says:

Amen to the punchline, Bearman!…Good one!

  15. Tony McGurk says:

So true & it applies in any country. Great comic, going to vote

  16. Binky says:

The chance of that is miniscule at best.

  17. Beam me up Scottie, there’s no intelligent life down here!

  18. Cha says:

Ahah brilliant! Just like these shiny stars.

  19. Very funny and true. I cast a vote for you.

  20. Jenn says:

And that’s why I’m glad to be a Canadian =P

  21. Androgoth says:

    I like this one Bearman
    your talents for comic
    strips are excellent 🙂
