Red Cross Banner

Given the massive destruction of property and lives that happened in Japan, people always wonder how they can help. Internationally, the Red Cross does an amazing job in my opinion and I quickly donated and wanted to put a banner linking to their donation page on my site.

I wasn’t happy with the sizes or styles of banners they had available so I created this one. It links directly to their donation page where you can designate your donation to the efforts in Japan.

  1. It’s awful what’s happened/happening over there.
I have to grit my teeth before I check out the latest headlines…

  2. Tim says:

Thanks for providing this, I’ve posted it to my site.

Hmmmm…… that’s weird. I clicked through to donate, entered all my details correctly (I checked them twice) and my credit card was declined even though it has plenty of funds available… you haven’t just siphoned my account have you bearman?

    • Bearman says:

Maybe something to do with the Aussie card on the U.S. Red Cross. If I was going to siphon your fund, I would use the Rich uncle in Saudi Arabia bit.

I came across a blog in which a women said she had “survivor remorse”. Now I don’t think that is the right phrase but in today’s over connected and reported world we do learn about tragedies more often than older generations did. Good that you offered that link. Compared to the Haiti earthquake this one which was much stronger doesn’t seem to have the hardship that one did. It shows the difference between an advanced country vs. a poor backward country.
Don’t know if you expecting this commentary but I just wanted to put it out there. thanks

    • Bearman says:

Love all types of commentary. I was amazed that yearly the town does tsunami/earthquake evacuation drills. They were prepared as best they could and probably countless lives were saved because of it.

I sat and wondered if there were a natural disaster in my town, I wouldn’t know what the heck to do.

  5. George says:

Good idea, Bearman. You’re one in a million.

  6. Pearl says:

Very nicely done, Bearman. I contributed $25 earlier today.

I just read that despite the victims of the earthquake being holed up in evacuation centers they are still recycling.

  9. Binky says:

Good idea, Bearman! I just stole it for my site. The devastation in Japan is overwhelming, and the unfolding nuclear disaster raises their problems to a new level.

  10. Tony McGurk says:

It is just so tragic. Hard to even to begin to imagine what those poor people are going through trying to cope with all that destruction & loss of so many lives.

  11. DadaHyena says:

You’re a Good Man, Bear Man!

  12. Thanks for the link I donated today as well. My heart goes out to all who have been involved with this tragedy.

  13. Friggin Loon says:

Someone told me a story today about a young man who found an elderly woman in the carnage of the Tsunami. He pulled her out and carried her on his back for several miles to a rescue center. Evidently the woman was in a very bad way but when the young boy went to leave the elderly woman stood up and bowed to him, despite her pain. I think we can all learn from this culture.

  14. Colleen says:

A very worthy cause, Bearman. Thanks for getting the word out. Given the massive number of friends you have you alone should be proud to claim responsibility for doubling their participation (I’m betting). Maybe I can get my two friends to participate too.
