Always a Critic

Muppet Old Guys - Statler and Waldorf

A group of cartoony folks do something on twitter called #tuesdaysketch whereby someone sends out a topic and people sketch a cartoon under the theme.

This week the topic was “muppets”.  Sometimes I wish I could be as honest and Waldorf and Statler. Check out all the entries at the Flickr Group.

Come back Friday for something I am postive will “A-Peel” to you.

Don’t take it personally, Bearman – I bet they’re just jealous that your hair is still green. 🙂

  2. It is times like these that I wish I could draw. If I could only draw a little, I’d be happy… agh!

The Fozzy bear one was hilarious.

  3. danineteen says:

It’s on Flickr now, is it? I’ve been wondering why I barely see anything about it on Twitter these days.

    • Bearman says:

They announce it on Twitter but the guy running it didn’t have time to post every submission each week to his site so he started a flickr group and asked people to post there.

  4. susi spice says:

i LOVE the muppets!!! Statler and Waldorf were like my favourite!!! 😀

I think my humour is too much like theirs from whence I was a little sprout … if I end up marrying a man who is like this when he is an old man I will be very happy hahaha

    • Bearman says:

One that will complain alot about you. I would think that would be one you don’t want to end up with.

      • susi spice says:

nooooo he wouldnt complain about me cause im awesome and im an awesome girlfriend and will be an awesome wife one day.
        lol
he might complain about the yoghurt loaf but i can live with that

        haha

  5. Nate Fakes says:

I just always thought it was a little creepy that those two guys hung out together all the time in that booth.

  6. Bo Lumpkin says:

Beleive me when you are that old you are just glad to be able to sit up and take in nourishment. I’m almost there.

  7. WannabeHero says:

I’m actually glad I’m not as honest as those guys, cuz then I’d have to be honest with myself, and, well, I like lying to myself. 😎 Good stuff!

    • Bearman says:

haha…so true. I always thought I was in decent shape until I lost 10 lbs and everyone told me how good I look now. Now I wonder why they didn’t tell me how I looked like crap before.

  8. Gruff Guano says:

Nicely done! Those typical and highly recognizable features of Waldorf and Statler, in a few lines. The mark of a good caricaturist.

  9. DadaHyena says:

    “They weren’t half-bad.”

    “Yeah…they were ALL BAD!”

“D’OOOOOHHHH HO HO HO HO HO HO!”

I’ve loved the Muppets since I was a wee little baby, so this just made my morning.

  10. Don Mills says:

Jesus, Bearman, if you’ve been “holding back” so far I’m not sure I’d want you to be more truthful.

Nice job on the old boys.

    • Bearman says:

I only give you my B game Don. You might not come back if I pulled out the A game. Then again you don’t seem to have problems with people coming back for more gruff from you.

      Thanks

    • Bearman says:

I use photoshop elements. Under $100.

Key is understanding layers. I draw the cartoon on one layer and color it on a layer underneath.

  12. Gavin says:

Ah, they were my favourite Muppets characters too!

  13. George says:

Man, I would love to get in on Tuesday Sketch, but you guys gotta warn me around the preceding Friday. 🙂

You did a great job at capturing these two curmudgeons. I’m proud of you and the rest of the cartoonists who participated.

  14. Brad says:

“The question is, what is a manamana?
    “The question is, who cares?

  15. jb says:

The two of them need there adult diapers loosened up just a little.

  16. My favorite line from those playboys is at the end of the Weezer video Keep Fishin’ from 2003 where, at the end of the song, this exchange goes down:

You know, those guys aren’t half bad.

    You’re right, they’re ALL bad.

    Gold.

  17. Mel says:

I know these two characters but I have to ask, did you have to look their names up? I never could remember their names.

  18. jynksie says:

Keep those two away from my comic! If muppetts are mocking me, there-is-no-hope! o.O

  19. MJ says:

    Ha! Funny stuff!

  20. I meet people like this all the time
