Bearman Cartoon: Blue Dog Dems

I had never heard the term Blue Dog Democrats used so much until recently.  You would think with a Democratic President and Congress, that anything the President wanted could easily pass.  It seems while President Obama wants to rush through Healthcare reform this group of moderate, fiscal conservative Democrats may be the ones standing in the way as they want any reform to not be a drain on the taxpayers or on the deficit. Thoughts?

I don’t know why people think this is an argument with socialisam.
It is an argument with greedy immoral insurance companies.

  2. Always have to blame it on the dog.

  3. frigginloon says:

I think it’s time to ring Cesar Millan, Mr Pres. hmm, Explains why the Obama’s took so long to get a pooch. Never see him walk it, do you?

  4. Danica says:

    Ha 😀

  5. um, its called they don’t want to singlehandedly be responsible for the WORST IDEA EVER. cus when it blows up in their face, then they have to take the blame for it.

    • The real politicians will let it pass and then vote ‘no’. That way if it bombs they can say they never voted for it but if it was a success, they can say their resistance was to one element but overall their resistance shaped it into a better bill.

  6. G says:

Actually, its not the yokels in DC he has to convince, its us the American people.

  7. Nate Fakes says:

I’m sure it’s all about the poor insurance companies more than anything else. They’re behind the scenes with this issue. Someone’s getting paid off quite handsomely – I’m sure!

    • The other part (and not to jump on the republican bandwagon) is tort reform. I don’t mind large settlements for people screwing up and then hiding the fact that they did. But just to avoid litigation, doctors start ordering a litany of tests that in many cases aren’t needed driving up the cost of healthcare, then insurance, etc etc.

The answer is curbing frivilous lawsuits.

Other countries have a loser pays system when it comes to lawsuits. I wouldn’t recommend that b/c there are plenty of situations where someone with a legitimate claim loses. Rather just like with damages, I would like to have the judge/jury decide who pays.

  8. yorksnbeans says:

Definitely the insurance companies! Insurance reform is what we need!

BTW…..in case you don’t go back to the Tripster’s last post….I gave you a big Bear hug! 😉

  10. spilledinkguy says:

Hmmm the day that the feds run ANYTHING better than the private sector … soon going to the doctor will be like going to the DMV. 😉

    • US Mint and Post office…still pretty cheap to mail a letter.

      • spilledinkguy says:

Hmmm … touche, Sir! Except that the value of the dollar is plummeting and the Post Office is threatening to end Saturday service due “funding issues”. Still your point is well taken. I guess you could add National Defense to your list, but that might be all you’re getting from me, Mr. B! 🙂

  11. John K says:

what tax increase, the one on the top one percent? oh, right… yeah i am not even close to that.

  12. John K says:

I do love the depiction of Obama, spot on.

  13. ‘Good Boy”

I agree with John K, great Obama.

  14. Lynn says:

must refrain from commenting as politics makes me an ugly person at this stag in my life….cause i hate both parties!

  15. bschooled says:

I’ve learned more about American politics from you in the past month of reading your blog than I did in 5 years of watching CNN.

Although to be honest, I only really paid attention to Nancy Grace and the constant updates she gave on her twins.

  16. BadIdea says:

Government has no business in health care…

mandatory enrollment or you will be fined…. Freedom?… Hmmm…

It goes much , much deeper than this……

    • Mandatory enrollment for car liability insurance. Well expect for that guy that hit me who wasn’t cited and not even for not having liability insurance.

  17. paintbynumbers says:

    Love it!
