Bearman Cartoon: GM Too Big to Fail…

…but we don’t give a damn about the suppliers or dealers.

I hate that phrase that has been pushed around in the US with regards to Banks and the American Auto companies. I am all for capitalism but in my mind too big to fail means it is way too big and while the government shouldn’t put restrictions on growth they should install measures to protect pensions, etc of companies that size.

Unfortunately greed is the problem. If we could ever control that, this kind of mess would never happen again.

  2. Ouch. Sad but true.

  3. mmm hmmm. i agree with that sentiment.

Well see, that’s the thing. I’m all for capitalism, too, but that’s no longer what we have in this country. When government subsidies big business (and then just outright buys it), it really isn’t capitalism anymore. And this was the case long before these bailouts.

  6. Nate Fakes says:

My wife is a receptionist at Chevy. It’s busy as ever over there, because every other dealership in the area has pretty well SHUT DOWN. Good news for them – but yea, pretty bad for the others

  7. It’s a difficult situation and topic with some very strong sentiments. I’m looking for brighter days to come.

These companies sure are sounding cocky in their advertising nowadays. Whatever happened to the humble approach?
