    Trump Motivates the Troops

Presidential Candidate Donald Trump must have felt empowered after announcing his Presidential Candidacy including this statement:

“When Mexico sends its people, they’re not sending their best. They’re not sending you. They’re not sending you. They’re sending people that have lots of problems, and they’re bringing those problems with us. They’re bringing drugs. They’re bringing crime. They’re rapists. And some, I assume, are good people.”

Well what most might think there’s another egotistical celebrity/rich man using the Presidential campaign to draw attention to their outlandish notions, it seemed to have worked.  Trump has surged ahead of the rest of the Republicans.

But now some are claiming he bombastic remarks have gone to far, thus marking the point of his decline.  Senator and former POW John McCain has been going after Trump on his plans for Immigration Reform.  In discussing the Senator, Trump said

“He was a war hero because he was captured.  I like people who weren’t captured.”

Makes you wonder as this editorial cartoon ponders what else he might say to our current troops and veterans.

Government Shutdown of Outdoor Public Monuments Cartoon

10 8 13 Bearman Cartoons Government Shutdown National Monument RangersSo it seems that there have been some tensions lately at United States National Monuments.   On one hand you have the government closing down monuments that are outdoors, like the World War II Memorial in Washington DC.   At the same time many rangers who worked those sites have been furloughed along with other government employees.  HOWEVER, at the same time they are using rangers at these monuments to put up barricades and block the public from accessing the sites.

I can understand the need to protect the monuments from vandalism, however how many rangers beyond those already there to prevent access are needed to allow visitors in even on a limited basis?
