Gangnam Style Takes over Justin Bieber

So Korean pop sensation PSY’s video for his song Gangnam Style has just surpassed Justin Bieber’s Baby video as the most watched on YouTube. Now I am not a Justin Bieber hater like most. In fact if you look at the stats, he has more unlikes on his YouTube video than likes. I think he has talent. But with many celebrities, I think sometimes they screw up royally when trying to remain relevant.

That is why the caption “Gangnam Takes Over Bieber” is a double entendre. Obviously the first way to look at it is PSY’s video taking over Bieber’s. But with the second you have to fully understand what Gangnam Style means. It mocks people that are posers. Those who act like something they are not. Well it seems for all his success, it isn’t enough for Justin. Now he has resorted to stunts like this.

According to the Huffington Post Article, he tweeted this shirtless pic to his followers. Seriously? Not only do you have to try and show your “sex appeal” but really you had to pull your pants down too? Interesting strategy.

Well good news for Bieber is that he and PSY have the same manager so maybe there will be a forthcoming collaberation.

William Shatner Depantsed by TSA

The Cartoonist Studio Editorial Cartoon Contest continues and I made it to week NINE!! So I am almost done asking for votes. Thanks to all for voting. A little humor for the week prompted today’s editorial cartoon. It seems actor William Shatner (Star Trek, TJ Hooker, Priceline Negotiator) has a little embarrassing moment with TSA agents at LAX. He was going on an international flight out of LAX and as he relates it, he didn’t want to be wearing anything binding…so he went to the airport in loose clothing and NO UNDERWEAR. Shatner, who had a hip replacement always sets the metal detector off and has to have extra security pat downs. Well it seems an inexperienced TSA agent got the “short stick” and was a little aggressive in his work causing Shatner’s proton torpedo to be visible to everyone in airport security.

SFTH: Aussie Undies

Thought I would start a new periodic feature to supplement the traditional Bearman Cartoons. SFTH or Straight From the Headlines will have me perusing local newspapers from around the globe and posting that which I find interesting or humorous.

Given that I am more popular in Australia than America, my first stop was the Australian papers. I was going to do something on the Prime Minister being “soft” on immigration violations, but then this article about Aussie men and their underwear habits caught my eye. (The Friggin Loon also picked up on this story. I think because she has a google alert on “men’s undies”.)

Australian men were surveyed and half stated that they wait 2 or 3 days (which means 3-7 days) before changing their underwear for a fresh pair. If that wasn’t funny enough, I went on to read this blurb:

Adelaide stylist Filip Odzak said men should pick flattering and attractive undies over name brands. “What every man needs for the best result is a pair of basic black jocks or jock briefs – they always look great,” he said.

This got me thinking. Do Australian men all look like Hugh Jackman? Nope. Seems over 60% of Aussie men just like their chubby American cousins are overweight or Obese. So black jocks on heavy men? I know I long ago switched to boxer-briefs. It is very slimming.
