Why Wives Should Not Cut Their Hair Short

    2-19-2015-Hair-Cut-Bearman-Cartoons

Ladies, here is the simple reason why wives should not cut their hair short.  As men, WE WILL LIE TO YOU!!

Let’s face it sometimes you are in a rut, sometimes you are so busy taking care of the kids that keeping your hair looking good becomes a burden.  But no matter what whims you have as you sit in the salon, the only response cutting inches of hair off that won’t get a man killed is to say they like it.  Especially when we have no warning of the event prior.

The truth.  Most prefer longer hair.  When you cut it short, men see that as one step closer to you having the mom haircut and then THEIR mom haircut where the hair keeps getting shorter in the back and taller on top.  You know what I am talking about.

Thankfully my wife prefers her hair long and doesn’t have those whims because as she ages she sees her longer hair as  keeping her younger looking.   Now there is too long where you are just trying too hard too. haha

(psst.  BTW, I have to keep my hair the way she likes it cut in return).

    What do you think?

    Coloring Your Gray Hair Cartoon

1-16-Bearman-Cartoon-Grecian-Formula-StinksTime to admit something in today’s cartoon.  I have male patterned baldness grayness.   Yep, I have a beautiful head of hair but for some reason I started turning gray long before my much older brothers.   Turning gray (or “grey” for my UK friends) doesn’t bother me except for the fact that one side of my head has a larger patch of gray than the other side.  So while I didn’t want to dye it back to remove all the gray I decided to try a few things.

First up was Just for Men which was fine but it became way too dark and much more than my normal hair color.  Yikes.   Then I tried Touch of Gray which did a better job of keeping toward my natural hair color but it didn’t last that long.  With both these products once you open the package, you pretty much can’t use the tube of color again so it really was a waste of money since I used so little in one spot.   Both of  these products smell like the beauty shop my grandmother used to go to but the good thing is you immediately shampoo out the excess and for the most part the smell is gone.

Most recently I turned to Grecian Formula which promises to gradually remove the gray hairs.   Put it in dry hair and let it go.  Problem is, just like the other products mentioned, Grecian Formula smells.   Since they encourage you to keep it in rather than shampoo it out the stench stays with you.   Plus I noticed that if I didn’t shampoo it out each day that it seemed to transfer to my pillow.  I move a bunch in my sleep so invariably I am going to end up at some point with my face (and more importantly) lips in the pillow.  So I would wake up with a horrible taste in my mouth.   Not sure what I was ingesting, I looked at the ingredients to find that the active one is “Lead Acetate”.  Now I am not chemist but I can recall the ban on lead paint as a kid so ingesting lead anything can’t be a good thing.   While the company states it has research that Grecian Formula  is safe  and continues to sell in the U.S. the  formulation with lead acetate, back  in 2006 the ingredient was banned in Canada and the UK as  it was suspected of being a carnicogen.

On the bright side if no one comes near you because of the smell, they can’t see your gray hair.   I think I’ll just use a Sharpie from now on. 🙂

  • Long Island Medium & Hairspray

Bearman Cartoons Long Island Medium and HairsprayToday’s cartoon stars Theresa Caputo, better known on TLC as the Long Island Medium.   Sure we have seen tv psychics come and go: John Edwards, Sylvia Browne and of course my favorite Ms Cleo.

First of all let me say I am a:

    Optimistic Skeptic

I don’t believe in psychics but I would love to find proof for myself of life beyond this one.  But I have to say, I am impressed by Theresa.  Not because of her abilities so much because as always on TV, we don’t know what is cut.  But rather her over the top personality and the melding of her family (and husband Larry or as she in her Long Island accent says “Laaarrrry”) into the show.

Of course one recurring theme is Theresa’s overuse of hairspray.   My wife used to overdo the hairspray.  She has since dropped her usage to about 1/4 of what she used in the past.  I think (and she agrees) that her hair and she looks even better now than when I met her.   So put it down Teresa!!!

I know there are skeptics who think that all mediums do harm to those they read by taking advantage of their grief.  I take a less harsh view.  I think those who would continually try to profit on the sorrow of a grieving person should be called out.   However, if a person has the ability to make you feel better about the loss of a loved one in one session, how is that different than going to see a psychologist?   Sadly, I think there are those who are addicted to mediums and are constantly looking for answers.

What say you?   Believe in spirits, mediums, good/bad?
