  • Halloween Candy Bags

So of course my favorite pagan Holiday is almost upon us.  Thought I would highlight a couple different Halloween designs this month available at http://wacksack.com.  So if you want your kid to have a candy bag that isn’t one of those fancy store bought kind, take a look at our crap. (Also available on tshirts of course)

What ever happened to the days when we were growing up that you just used a pillow case?

  • Sweet Cherry Beer

Hoping to get a toon out this week but things have been crazy.

Here is another shirt design from the fictional WackSack Brewing Company.

  • Tutorial: Create Curtain Texture in Photoshop

Because I am the Photoshop wonder kid, George Ford asked in the comments of my Obama & Carter cartoon how I made the background curtain. Whether you are using Photoshop or simply Photoshop Elements like I do, it is a simple 4 step process. There are more in depth tutorials out there but this works for me and most people who just want to allude to the fact that there is a curtain backdrop.

    STEP 1.
Create a new layer and fill it with Black. It should look like this…(duh)
    Curtain1

    STEP 2:
Leave Black as your foreground color and choose a background color that you want your curtain to be. I chose blue. Make sure Black is in Front of the color you chose.

    STEP 3:
Click on FILTER > RENDER > FIBERS. You can play with the settings but I used a Variance of 6 and Strength of 4.

    Curtain2

    STEP 4:
Finally click on FILTER > BLUR > GAUSSIAN BLUR. I set a radius to 5 and tada, you get a curtain.

I look forward to Hank Addanac taking to the stage in the near future.

  • Oktoberfest T-shirt

Cincinnati is known to have the largest Oktoberfest celebration outside of Germany.  Now while Germany’s lasts over several weeks and actually runs into October, for whatever reason Cincinnati’s is over a weekend and always in September.  So that is why I highlight them now.

The very first t-shirt we put on WackSack.com was this Oktoberfest shirt that shows a guy in lederhosen carrying a large sausage.  The back say’s “Grab your Sausage and Have Fun”.  It has consistently been one of the top sellers.

Later we added these a few more designs which have done pretty well in their own right. Click on them to go to their respective product page.

  • Julian Beever – Pavement Drawings

I have been joking about my lack of ability to draw in perspective. Well Julian Beever doesn’t have that problem. I is a reknowned 3D Street Artists. That’s right his canvas is the street yet his drawings seem to actually have height and depth. I am showing a few here but check out all of them at his site.

  • Two Yorks and a Bean

Jill at Two Yorks and a Bean affectionately known around the blogosphere as YNB was a little jealous of my PSA for Donald Mills at the Crabby Old Fart.

Her husband is from Yorkshire and she is from America thus the two flags.  Now as far as the trolls…I really couldn’t tell you what that is all about.  Either she loves them or is one.  So she is now sporting her own Bearman original on her website.  Scroll to the bottom of her page to see it.

  • Fold a Tshirt in 2 seconds

UPDATE:  Check out our own friend YorkNBeans video on the same subject that was picked up on CNN.  See it here.

While some people like our friend Lynn think learning to peel a banana like a monkey is cool, I found this more useful. Sure it has been around for years but I am slow (as are many of my readers) and I just discovered this little trick.  I don’t mind DOING laundry, I just hate folding it.

I guess there has been a video from Japan about how to fold a tshirt in 2 seconds.  Watching the original video there is an obvious cut in action so it appears it was faked.  However, I came across this video.

It actually worked. Now someone just needs to teach this couple how to make a bed in 2 seconds before you make a Youtube video.

  • Posemaniacs: Great Source for Drawing Poses

Some of us who were NOT art or illustrator majors in college (and it shows) have a hard time picturing certain body poses in our heads.  Never had a wood drawing dummy (well unless you consider some of my exes) I tend to spend alot of time making faces in the mirror (and not just because it is fun).

Well the other day I found a great site called Posemaniacs.  They have several hundred different body poses that are created in flash allowing you a 360 degree view of the pose.  Here is an example of just one pose (tried to load their actual working widget but wouldn’t work)

Haven’t actually used it as a source for my stuff.  But you can bet when I do another crowd scene with people running in all different directions, I’ll be heading back over for some help.

  • Dexter T-shirt

So I finally posted a new t-shirt design after about 6 months to Wacksack.com.   One of my favorite shows is Dexter on Showtime.  Cafepress put out a call for shopkeepers to create designs promoting the series return on September 27.

For those unfamiliar, Dexter stars Michael C. Hall (previously on Six Feet Under on HBO).  He plays a forensic expert for the Miami police but he is also a serial killer.  The twist is that he only will kill those who are more evil than he is. The new season has John Lithgow coming in as another serial killer.  Can’t wait.

  • So it Rained on Your Fireworks Display

For most U.S. municipalities, July 4th marked many a fireworks display. But for those of us in the Midwest 9 times out of 10 they get rained out.

It looks like Sega Toys is going to release a product on August 1 called the Uchiage Hanabi that allows you to enjoy your very own fireworks display in the safety and comfort of your own home. Should be under $200 but no word on if it will be also released in the US.
