PikPak at 100

First Guest Cartoon while I am away is Kim Belding’s PicPak Webcomic.   Shown is PicPak the dog at age 100.  Here is how Kim describes the webcomic:

Picpak Dog is a simple gag comic that revolves around Picpak, a big pink dog, his wife Wakky, a small blue cat, and all the folleys that they and their friends get themselves into. It’s simple, family-friendly and all-ages fun. The 100-year old here in question is Picpak. Things have changed a lot in the future. Somehow Picpak has aged, but his children haven’t. Kids these days.

Thanks Kim for being first out of the gate and first to send me a guest cartoon.  I love the socks with sandals look.  So dad-like.   Go show Kim some love.  Thanks

I’m still explaining what a turntable, walkman and cassettes are 🙁

LOL! Walkman is still around. Try explaining punchcards and adding machines…with a handle instead of a plug.

      1. Bearman Avatar

I never understood punch cards. Haha

Binary machine code isn’t the friendliest language.

          1. Red Avatar

Sure it is. You only have to learn two numbers! ROFL!

          2. frigginloon Avatar

Egads, I did punch cards in high school. Computer was the size of a friggin Tyrannosaurus

          3. Bearman Avatar

Damn loon you are older than I thought haha

          4. Binky Avatar

            Simplicity confuses most people, though.

I’ve still got a mechanical electric adding machine. An amazing thing to watch.

        1. Bearman Avatar

Mechanical electrical? Is that an oxymoron

          1. Binky Avatar

            I am not!
No, it’s an electro-mechanical adding machine with a print out. Something akin to an electric typewriter.

        FANCY!
I’m still running an abacus over here.
        🙂

        1. Bo Lumpkim Avatar

I was gonna use that. Of course before the abacus we used pebbles and sticks to keep up with stuff. I still have some.

          1. Bearman Avatar

Keep going. You two are making me feel younger and younger

Great comic, Kim. This is an “If I had a dollar” moment.

    1. Bearman Avatar

If you had a dollar you would give it to me. You are like that

Still trying to explain an 8-track.

    1. Bearman Avatar

I always thought they were more advanced than cassette because you could jump from track to track

      1. Bo Lumpkim Avatar

I actually jumped the gun and bought a 4-track player. Only about three recordings were ever made for it and I had all three.

        1. Bearman Avatar

          Bad technology bet

    2. Kim Avatar

We actually had one of our original 8-track players until last year. It was built into a table.

      1. George Avatar

My dad still drives a van and an old Lincoln Continental that is still outfitted with an 8-track player. 🙂

Is that 100 in dog years or people years?

Yep, that’s how things happen. I was watching an old show and there were rotary phones. It cracked me up. Many kids don’t know what a rotary phone is.

    Have a terrific day. 🙂

    1. Bearman Avatar

I can still hear they whirring sound of my grandparents phone in my head

      1. Red Avatar

The last one my grandmother bought was fake. It had touch tones when you put your finger in the ring.

    2. George Avatar

I try to tell my kids about how much you wanted to cry when you messed up someone
s number with a rotary phone. I also tried to explain ‘party lines’ to them, but it was too over their heads. 🙂

I still remember those funny slab thingies they were called “books” what a weird word, huh?

    1. Bearman Avatar

I have those. We use it to balance the wobbly table

  8. Kim Avatar

You guys bring up some great points. The other day I was thinking how kids wouldn‘t know why they were called “mixtapes“.

    1. Bearman Avatar

I always thought they were mixed tapes

  9. Binky Avatar

Hard to image what will (and won’t) be around in 50 or 100 years.

      1. Binky Avatar

        I’m freezing myself.

My comics are still in boxes.

Maybe in the future, they’ll just beam humor at people. If you’re depressed, you can buy a humor feed.

    1. Bearman Avatar

I never collected comics. I was a reader and then hey got trashed from over reading

      1. George Avatar

        I’ll pretend I didn’t read that.

  11. Bo Lumpkim Avatar

Great comic Kim. Of course I knew it would be. I read your stuff all the time.

    1. Bearman Avatar

      As everyone should

      1. Kim Avatar

Thanks guys! (and yes, I read your work too!)

  12. Jack of Gulls Comic Avatar

Oh man, ain’t this gonna be the truth. I have to explain to my younger cousins about how to spot CGI graphics in movies. They love CGI. I am an old codger, I hate it. Gollum in TLOTR, it’s like watching Scat Cat and Paula Abdul, or Who Framed Roger Rabbit.

One day that will be us. I saw your comic on Growmap, I love it.

I wonder what they’ll have in the future instead of the web???
