Computer Crash Cartoon

Computer Crash Cartoon

Well it finally happened.  After 9 years, my computer, and primary drawing tool, crashed.  Towards the end I could work on it for about 5 minutes before everything locked up.  After weeks of dealing with it without finding a solution and then researching new computers and then transferring files and programs, I am finally just seeing the end where I may be back up and running.

Bearman Cartoons Charity Challenge

The Challenge was a bust this year compared to the previous nine so maybe it is time to put that in the ground along with my old computer.  As of last count we were only at about $150.  I went ahead and made a donation to all three charities of $250 each.

I’m getting concerned about my laptop (2010). The personal part of a PC is tough to change. You need to put your fingers on new keys. Wishing you as many years from the new one.

I feel your pain my friend. While my computer(s) haven’t died, they simply get moved to the side as each operating system has gone obsolete. I believe once 7 goes buh-bye, I will get a Mac just like my daughter has.

Sorry to hear about your computer, Bearman. At least you got a good nine years out of it!

I’m sorry to hear about your computer’s ka-put’ness, B. 🙁 I’m even sorrier to hear about the yearly Bearman Charity Challenge.

I had just asked myself “doesn’t that occur in May? Is it May yet?”. Yeah, I ask this at the end of June. I’m pitiful by nature. 🙁

Other than that, I hope everything else is going splendidly for you, my friend.

    • Everything is great. Big issue with the challenge is how much support I used to get from G+. With the constant changes engagement and interaction is way down over there.

That’s unfortunate about your computer, but 9 years is pretty good. At least it gave you some warnings, so hopefully you had a chance to back up anything that you hadn’t backed up before. I dread changing computers. It takes so much to get things back to running the way you want them.

I;m surprised about your challenge. It seems everyone spends all their time on FB these days.

My almost two year old Dell computer is losing it’s screen connection about 100 times a day. I am thinking of getting a Chromebook next but I get overwhelmed with all the details and eventually just give up and then remember 5 seconds later when the screen goes out that I need to buy a new computer.

I’m not sure why your fund drive is down this year but since part of my day job is raising support I kind of wonder if it is all of these sites like GoFundMe that are cropping up lately. Everybody is being hit up for money lately. I hope the use of these sites go way down in the future.

I’m fine with people using them for medical bills but I know a guy who was trying to get help paying off his 100,000 dollar school bill…

    • The difference is that I don’t ask people to put up money per se in my challenge. I think google plus where I tended to get a bunch of support has changed their UI so much that there is less engagement.

9 years is a pretty good run these days. May it rest in peace. Now we’ll take a minute silence as we remember.

  9. I’m not far behind you. I’ve started backing up already. I’m reading the writing on the walls…and your comic about dying computers.

  10. Bill Murphy says:

OMG, your computer survived for nine years?!
    You lucky SOB! 😛

  11. Friggin Loon says:

My computers 3 years TOPS. Well done Bearman.
