The Sky is Falling

10-31-12-Bearman-Cartoon-Obama Romney Chicken Little

Woo Hoo, only two more days before the sentiment of today’s editorial cartoon is over.  I can safely say that I am not the only one with voter fatigue.  The bad news is that whomever does win, we will still be hearing this sentiment from the other side for four years.

Usually I am a purist and like to wait until election day to cast my vote.  You never know what scandal might come out the day before the election that will change your vote.   Well for those of us who don’t vote a straight ticket.  Last minute I have to go out of town on election day so I had to opt for in person early voting.

You would think that with Ohio being a battleground state, there would be more than one option in my county to early vote.  Nope.  One place, the Board of Elections downtown.   Originally I was going to go on Saturday but then I heard that Will.I.Am and Vivica A Fox were going to be down there and I knew that the lines would be way too long because gawkers want to gawk.  Instead I went on Friday.  Not much better choice.

This was the line.  Well the line once I turned the corner.  There were just as many people around the building before I got to this point.  From the back of the line to the door was 35 minutes.  From the door, up the steps and to the front of the line was another 35 minutes.  Time to vote:  5 minutes.   So I did my civic duty in 1 hour and 15 minutes.   I hope you will make a minimal effort to go vote.

I would wait six months just to watch Vivica Fox drink a Dixie cup of water. Sigh….I agree with you on the voter fatigue. You’d think Tuesday will end of the hoopla, but realistically, it’ll just be the beginning. Hopefully, there will be no riots in the streets. Let whatever happens, happens.

  2. Red says:

I definitely have voter fatigue. Everyone I know who voted early had the same lines. I think it is possible for the first time in more than 20 years we will break some of the dismal turnout statistics.

    • Bearman says:

Day of election, I have no issues walking right up. Friend in Texas said that in her county there were 20 different early voting locations.

  3. Comedy Plus says:

I’ll be voting on Tuesday. I’ll wait in line for as long as it takes too. It’s my civic duty to vote.

    Have a terrific day. 🙂

  4. I wonder who is going to get elected.

  5. Bearman says:

If nominated I will not run

  6. G.B. Miller says:

I have voted in every municipal, state and federal election that I’ve been eligible for since 1984, and I don’t plan on missing this one.

Fortunately for the candidates running for state office here, they haven’t attempted to stump for my vote. Got a lot of choice words and select adjectives to enlighten the namby-pamby Democratic candidates who seem to be unable to think for themselves and pay more attention to the PAC’s and the head pimp occupying the guv’nor’s mansion than actually paying attention to their very angry constituents.

    • Bearman says:

You should be thankful you don’t live in a battle ground state. Can’t wait for Wednesday and people stop telling me how I should vote.

  7. Binky says:

Not a great way to encourage more people to vote. Those reluctant to vote are not going to want to wait like you did.

  8. Bo Lumpkim says:

The way I see it no matter who gets elected the country is still in a mess and even with that it is still the greatest country in the world.
Lucky for me I live in a rural area and I will vote a little after noon on Tuesday and I would be surprised if there are more than two or three people in line before me…some of them will be voting for the second time though since the Justice Department hasn’t given approval to voter ID in MS.

    • Bearman says:

I think with the absentee ballot as it is, if someone wanted to vote twice they would just sign up as Aunt Millie (who died last year) and get her ballot sent in the mail.

  9. lisleman says:

Good for you. I did need to go the place twice because the system went down during my first visit. Luckily I didn’t have much of a line.

  10. Tony McGurk says:

That’s one heck of a queue. You should’ve taken your pencil & sketch book ‘cos you would’ve had time to draw a few cartoons. Or you could’ve caricatured other people who were waiting too & made a few bucks while you were there.

  11. Ed Wombat says:

I think Fraz will do the best job & not kill America in the process. Vote 1 Fraz for President!!!

  12. nursemyra says:

good to see you and your readers take voting so seriously bearman.

  13. frigginloon says:

and the poor will kill the chickens…just one big friggin vicious circle 😯

  14. HA! I like the ‘red’ and ‘blue’ combs.
I’m anticipating a bit of a wait here tomorrow, too.
    🙂

  15. jynksie says:

Welp, its down to which chicken lays the golden egg and which one gets flipped sunny side up-eh?!? [say what?]

  16. Gruhn says:

They make it very easy in Texas. You can vote at the grocery store. You walk in to get some milk, see no one in line, so you vote. Done.

    • Bearman says:

My friend in Texas said there were like 20 places to go just in her county. We need more people working on the government dime here it seems.

  17. DadaHyena says:

No matter who is in office or who will be next, there will always be the little chickens who scream, “The sky is falling, and it’s all the president’s fault!”.

  18. My polling place is within walking distance of my house, and since I’m one of those straight ticket guys, that makes it all pretty easy!

    • Bearman says:

I am NOT one of those straight ticket guys but if I don’t know either of the candidates enough to vote for or against them, I move onto the next race.

  19. Nate Fakes says:

I do not envy the voters tomorrow. Thunderstorms and rain is predicted.

  20. Christina says:

    Don’t blame me, I voted for Kang…

  21. starla says:

I’m glad I don’t live in a battle ground State. Today’s the Big Day looks like the sky is falling. :+)

  22. Bo Lumpkim says:

I voted today and no one was in line in front of me. If you want to vote in a hurry just move to Gatorhead. If the lines get too long we just form another line.

  23. Bearman says:

So everyone walks arm in arm

  24. Mark Stokes says:

    Some major egg scrambling!

  25. Dr. Cynicism says:

Hahaha, this pretty much sums up every single election ever, right?
