Guest Cartoon: Stef Marcinkowski

Stef Marcinkowski of the web graphic novel Sarah Zero, surprised me with this parody send up of Metallica’s album cover from “Master of Puppets”.     The original can be found on Wikipedia

Check out Stef’s blogpost that describes his process.   FIFTEEN HOURS, yes I said 15 hours to complete this monstrous task.  And with an infant crawling around the house too.  That is a true Bearmaniac!!

Guest Cartoon Request

Taking some time off the first couple weeks of December so if you are a webcomic artist looking to promote your work this is a great opportunity.   I am doing a repeat of my very first guest cartoon request.  Since I don’t have regular characters, I want to see you use your characters with a twist.    Here is what I am looking for:

  • Show us what one of your characters will look like at age 100 OR looked like at age one.
  • Single Panel (max 500 pixel width)
  • Give me a paragraph that describes your webcomic and who the character is that you have drawn
  • Send to me bearmancartoons at yahoo.com
  • Submit by November 20.

Need inspiration?  Well you can check out the submissions from when I put out  the call back in 2009 from George Ford, Dan Long, Byron Wilkins, Warren FrantzRobert Matejcek aka Spilled Ink, and Nate Fakes

    Have a terrific day. 🙂

  2. Red says:

I am a huge Metallica fan and this is ubercool!

15 hours? Wow. Not just for the dedication, but for the idea my attempt would be measured in weeks. *grins*
    Red.

  3. Kim says:

The attention to detail is amazing. Great job Stef!

  4. George says:

This is an amazing guest cartoon. Stef did an outstanding job. I can certainly see what painstaking touches he incorporated in the fifteen hours it took to complete this masterpiece. Quite impressive!

  5. George says:

Hey, can I still do a guest cartoon even though I participated in ’09? Is it okay if I try a different concept, perhaps the one you mentioned to me a few months ago?

    • Bearman says:

No…you gotta stick with the rules of this one for that time period. That is why I added the 1 year old version too, in case you or others wanted to try something different.

Though I am always open to guest cartoons beyond this time.

  6. Androgoth says:

I think that the new hair style works
but your tongue has lengthened somewhat,
I guess being a ghoul one has to have a
long one, no I mean a long tongue 🙂 lol

    This is brilliant work
by your friend Stef Marcinkowski 🙂

  7. Hello everyone

Wow, thank you all so much for your awesome comments!

TASTY TRIVIA: in making this pic, I asked Bearman to send me a real photo of himself, and he really DOES look like this. His tongue is like a full-grown Python.

    Take care!

  8. Roland says:

I’ll throw my hat in the ring for the guest strip, at first I didn’t know how I would do a zombie and ghost at 100 years, but then I remembered that I draw a freaking comic and I can do anything I want with my characters without explanation … lol.

  9. I love it. Too funny

  10. jynksie says:

Ahhh, that Stef, he does great things for ya when yer not looking for it! [applauds]

  11. Roland says:

I totally forgot to say that the guest comic is all kinds of awesome!

  12. Nate Fakes says:

    I would buy this album.

    That’s a great poster, Stef!
    15 hours? That’s a lot of dedication.

  15. James says:

This Metallica reference made you my favorite person of the week.

  16. Bo Lumpkin says:

You are definitely the master of +’s. Great fan art.
I think I might be in for a guest strip. I’ll have to get my mind workin’.
BTW You are a winner in my contest but you have to email me your address so I can send you your prize.

Actually my post today kinda looks like I did when I was a kid but it is a photo and not a comic.

  17. starla says:

Very Cool! Well Done! Is Christmas really right around the corner? Time does fly.

  18. The original can be found in my collection, too.
I like this version about a bajillion times better, though.
    Rock-on!!!
