Editorial Cartoon: Mitt Romney Indecisive

Bearman Cartoons Mitt Romney Indecisive

The Cartoonist Studio Editorial Cartoon Contest continues and I made it to week TWO!  Thanks to all for voting.  Click the image above or here to go to the voting.  You should do a search of “Bearman” and my cartoon will come up front and center and then vote.  Some people were clicking the link and then accidentally voting on the first thing that popped up.  Unfortunately no way to direct link to my cartoon.  Again, as long as I stay in the contest, there will be two editorial cartoons a week to vote on – Mondays and Thursdays.   Oh and you can vote multiple times in each round if you want (resets every six hours) until EOD  Saturday.

It seems like every presidential election cycle their is a candidate the press/pundits like to point out is wishy washy or indecisive in some way.  John Kerry was known as the flip flopper and now the mantra has been passed down to Mitt Romney.  I was reading this quote from Leo Tolstoy which inspired today’s editorial cartoon.  Tolstoy was a Russian writer in the 1800’s who is famous for writing War and Peace and also inspiring non violent movements such as used by Gandhi and Martin Luther King.

I don’t mind a politician changing his mind on issues.  I guess it is better than standing your ground without being able to be persuaded.  But changing your mind is a far cry from consistently being indecisive.

That’s a great quote to use for this cartoon. You’re really getting into this, my friend. I sincerely hope you take the crown in this contest of kings.

As for being wishy-washy, I hope to one day see a candidate who stands by what he feels even if it alienates potential voters. I can respect someone who disagrees with me if he (or she) truly believes in his(or her) stance. I don’t need but so many back-patters who exist only to stroke my ego.

Although, I do require a small number of them if only to combat my abject depression. 🙂

    • Bearman says:

      Thanks G. Some tough competition.

As I said I am ok with someone who faced with new facts changes their stance. It is better than someone who will live and die by their beliefs that they are not able to see evidence to the contrary.

    • Nef says:

I disagree with George and I truly believe in my stance… Now I only have to figure out what my stance is.

  2. Scholar Mel says:

Wait, he sounds a lot like John Kerry. Maybe that is why Kerry is going to play him in the mock debates 🙂

I just went back and read your post. You mention the thing about John Kerry.

  3. lisleman says:

Good quote to match up with Mitt. It does show that even when things change things are still the same in many ways.

  4. Tony McGurk says:

My 1st thought on the YES shirt was that he looked like a StarTrek crew member.

  5. Sensational likeness, Bearman!
    🙂

  6. nursemyra says:

    I voted for you baby

  7. G. B. Miller says:

I beg to differ. I think that Romney has been very consistent, and that the President has shown himself to be the ulitmate indecisive and panders to the lowest common denominator.

    • Bearman says:

Honestly I think all politicians do it to some extent but then when they are called on it become firmly entrenched in whichever opinion is going to give them the most votes.

  8. The Code Crimson says:

Hah, so true, and so pathetic. I sometimes wonder if he isn’t really a robot, and not the cool kind of robot.

  9. starla says:

My Votes in. I finially got the paper work filled out for some reason I kept screwing up the password. I must have tangled up my fingers as I type.

  10. Binky says:

I think that would apply to an awful lot of candidates. The problem of course is what they do when elected has little to do with what they promised.

  11. Romney reminds me of Guy Smiley from the Muppets and the presidential candidates on Futurama.

  12. Jande says:

” ‘Tis an ill wind that blows both ways.”

  13. Scott says:

Clever–reminds me of that goddamned Rick Scott, the current governor of Florida.

    • Scott says:

I voted against that bastard–he ran as a Republican, but he would have run as a Democrat if it would have been in his favor. And just as I feared, he has damaged this state severely, cutting back money from everything, including healthcare and law enforcement. He’s evil. He’s a megalomaniac who literally bought his way into the Florida Governor’s Mansion!

  14. Friggin Loon says:

You had to bring up John Kerry didn’t you. Dance cocky, dance cocky.

  15. Deb says:

My first thought who it was when I saw this comic was Daniel Brian “Yes, Yes, Yes,” from WWE, and one of his rivals (which is just about all of them).

  16. bschooled says:

    Off to vote now…

ps. You make me want to be more politically-correct. In a good way.

  17. Mark Stokes says:

I’ve never seen eyes expressed with just the brows! Nice job, Bearman!

  18. blunt says:

    bear. i’m back

and everytime i return i’m still disappointed you have this ridiculous black background that makes me have seizures.

  19. blunt says:

    OH. and i voted.

even though i had to log in with Facebook.

    true internet friend.

  20. Ain’t that the truth.

  21. jynksie says:

Living in an area that is well versed in the language of Romney, I can tell you without skipping a beat, that this man doesnt “evolve” an opinion, as much as he sticks his finger in the air to see which direction the wind is blowing!

He was pro-choice as governor, til he wasnt.
He was pro-gay rights as governor, til he wasnt.
He was FOR RomneyCare until it became ObamaCare, then he wasnt!

One thing he cannot be blamed for is the MA economy during his tenure. The speaker of the house in MA has the real control, the gov is more of a figure head with opinions, but no real bite in political matters.

    • Bearman says:

Was the economy good or bad during his tenure…people seem to go both ways.

I don’t care that he is against Obamacare…I care that he doesn’thave a back up plan

      • jynksie says:

MA ranked near the bottom in job growth while he was governor, but then, it ranked there before he was and after he left. MA has an anti business climate due to tax structure and loses jobs to states like New Hampshire, Colorado and Texas who come and poach employers. Governors in MA have no controls really, its the legislature that sets the agendas [hence why ALL the recent Speakers of the house are in jail], governors here are more decorative than functional. [wink]

The only real things he did as governor was try to push for english immersion in schools requiring non english speaking students to learn english [never passed] and RomneyCare… he had a hands off approach to the states Marriage Equality law and he came to the governorship as a pro-choice governor. He didn;t even try to tackle MA “safe haven” turn a blind eye for illegals, but then again, they were mowing his lawn and painting his house in Belmont! #Really

        • Bearman says:

Good info Scotty! I have yet to see a governor create jobs (non government jobs that is) during a bad economy. Unless I am missing someone.
