1000th Twitter Follower

So I hit my 1000th Twitter Follower a few weeks back.  In twitter terms that really means I probably hit 200 legitimate followers once you dump out the pornbots and the “social media experts.”

As I noticed I was getting near, I decided to make a contest where I promised a caricature to the 1000th Twitter follower.  Oh you aren’t following me on Twitter yet and missed out.  Now whose fault is that?  Follow me.

Anyway, I was happy to report that number 1000 is an actual person.  And like 1/2 my readership outside the United States, resides in the UK.  So congratulations Robin, you were number 1000.

Robin Miller

Not only is Robin a real person but he is also somewhat of a philanthropist.  He spends many waking hours involved in walks, marathons, and ebay auctions all to raise money for the  Great Ormond Street Hospital in London.  Great Ormond is famous for being given the rights to the play Peter Pan by J.M. Barrie.  So check out Robin on Twitter and one his website, Twelveby12 and tell him I said hi.

Oh…and his caricature.

That’s a great idea, Bearman. But how do you know for sure who your 1000th follower would be? Do you use a special Tweeter program? or do you just try to pay close attention to your follower stats? These may seem like stupid questions, but you know that i happen to be a stupid guy who wants to wallow in your footsteps, Big Guy.

Well as I hit number 995, I looked at my follower list. It shows them in order from most recent to following you.

Then I just waited for the 5 more people to follow me and that was number 1000. And what are you talking about? You have more followers than me.

      • George says:

Most of my followers are kind folks who really wanna help me make money with MLM marketing. Or either they’re just Beliebers. You’ve got real-life, honest-to-gosh mortals. And maybe one immortal.

  2. George says:

Oh, and that is one swell drawing! I would love to have one myself.

  3. robin says:

Thanks once again 🙂 This is awesome, and my friends are already commenting on it 😀

I’ve placed a link on my site, and will add you to the extra special thanks section tomorrow, in the meantime I’d love any new visitors to come over and check out the site.

    Thanks
    RM

    You’re on Twitter?!
    1000 followers?!
I guess I’ve been missing out.
And that’s a pretty good caricature, too. Do you do your drawings with markers?

  5. nursemyra says:

Excellent, Robin must be pretty damned pleased with that!

  6. That’s amazing that he does all of that philanthropic work, god bless him!

I really have to start getting back into twitter, it’s been over a year.

    Good caricature, Bearman!

I’ve been off Twitter almost a year now. I still post things to it via Facebook (I think that’s still operational), but I find Twitter confusing, difficult and full of spam. It’s probably just user error, but that’s my excuse

  8. writerdood says:

Nice caricature. I can actually identify the dude!

I’m still not tweeting. Ha ha ha (evil laugh). I’m resisting society! I don’t have a facebook account either. I’m the invisible man! Yes, my protest of social media continues. Resistors unite! Uh… I’m not sure how they should do that though. The difficult part about arranging for a movement to resist social media is organizing it.

  9. Very cool, Bearman!
I’d be proud of myself if I could count to 1,000! (I could use a few extra fingers and toes, I guess) 🙂

  10. Tony McGurk says:

I think you miscalculated as I was sure it was me at No:1000

  11. Tony McGurk says:

Oh Great cariaciture too. Very good likeness of Robin

    • Bearman says:

      I hope he thought so.

    • robin says:

I thought it was pretty damn good Tony 🙂 Feel free to add your own interpretation of “Charity Robin” as I am now following you too 😀

This could be a whole new idea to promote my fundraising while helping out you guys at the same time… 😀

      • Bearman says:

Robin send me a 125×125 banner ad linking to your site, and I’ll add it to my links page.

        • robin says:

As soon as I get one made, I’ll send it to you 🙂

Don’t know why I haven’t done this before … banners galore time this weekend 🙂

Bet you mistook me for a pornbot that is why I missed out…

  13. lisleman says:

    Congrats to Robin
If I ever join twitter which I doubt, I’ll follow you. Do you follow many people?

  14. MJ says:

  16. Bo Lumpkin says:

Great job Bearman. I just followed you too early but that’s okay. You already drew me in an unflattering situation. (Which BTW I find useful at times.)

  17. bluntdelvery says:

aw, i love actual breathing individuals.

great cartoon… but at first i thought it said the “Great Osmond Hospital..” and that just couldn’t have been something that I support

  18. You know people from the Uk. awesome.
    I’m from the UK.
    .
I know, look i had a long day. lol

  19. Colleen says:

Hey bearman, if I had unfollowed you, then waited a bit, then re-followed you would you have done me from a photo of me before I got horribly disfigured? And while you’re at it, when are you gonna do you?

  20. Very cool. A great follower and a great contest.

  21. Congrats!!! I also aimed for 1000 twitters followers and i also achieved that!
