Oktoberfest Tshirt

Oktoberfest Grab Sausage Tshirt

Long time readers may remember this shirt but given it is a top seller at the store, it is one I like to highlight each year.   This is the first t-shirt I ever designed for the store:  it depicts a guy in lederhosen carrying a large sausage.  The back say’s “Grab your Sausage and Have Fun”.

Why highlight an Oktoberfest shirt the end of August?  Well, while Munich Germany’s Oktoberfest actually runs into October (Sept 18 – October 3), Cincinnati celebrates it smack dab in September (the 18th and 19th) and Covington, KY (right across the river from Cincinnati) celebrates the weekend before.

Quick trivial facts.  Cincinnati has the largest Oktoberfest celebration in the United States.  Last year an astute commenter indicated that it was Canada that held the distinction of the largest outside of Germany.  However, he is wrong according to my spot Wikipedia sources.  The largest celebration outside Germany is in Blumenau, BRAZIL!  But here is where Cincinnati gets back some of it’s swagger.  Estimates for the Canadian and Brazilian Oktoberfest are in the 700,000’s.  However each lasts about a week.  Cincinnati pulls in around 500,000 people in just 2 days.  Now who drinks more?

I was fortunate enough to make in to Oktoberfest in Munich once. Such a party.

Besides the great steins of beer the pretzels were huge. Also, chicken was popular dish.

  2. gallowaygrave says:

Hic, no more jugs… I’m pissed!

  3. Suzanne says:

Nice job on the shirt! I am planning on going to my first Oktoberfest this year, but I did find it strange that it was in the middle of September.

Think Cincinnati should take the win on that.

  4. Dan says:

I’ve been to Cincy’s Oktoberfest. All I have so say is – WOW. That’s a good time. The only thing it lacks is Clark Griswold dancing around.

    • Bearman says:

Since they tend to pull in a minor celeb each year to lead the chicken dance, I am suprised Chevy Chase hasn’t been called to the task.

  5. nursemyra says:

    I like the jugs tee!

  6. Why are so many Oktoberfest parties in September? Is it because the Germans can’t spell October?

  7. It’s always Oktoberfest at Denny’s.

  8. Friggin Loon says:

Oh for Cincinnati. So shouldn’t that be “grab your wiener?” I’m just saying!!!

  9. Nate Fakes says:

I used to really enjoy Minster Ohio’s Octoberfest. Ohio parties….a lot.

  10. bschooled says:

Crap! I wish you would have had these a couple years ago. My sister went to Germany for Oktoberfest and this shirt would have been perfect!

  11. MJ says:

    Agreed, It’s freaking hilarious.

  12. Love the shirts! At some point in the very near future I would like to commision you to design a few for me. I was thinking one of Che Guevara wearing a t-shirt with me printed on it. Just kidding, but stuff like that for sure.

  13. Tony says:

OK I have grabbed my sausage.
    Now what???
I am still waiting for the fun to start…

  14. susi spice says:

my my what a big sausage you have there…

  15. Bo Lumpkin says:

I can’t make it to Ocktoberfest anywhere this year. My lederhosen are in the shop for repairs.

  16. Brad says:

That sausage IS way too small for me. Wait, that sausage just represents sausage, right?

  17. i haven’t said the “S” word in about 15 years.

i can’t believe you put it on a shirt.

  18. Who knew Cincinnati was the place to be?

  19. George says:

Great designs, Bearman! I’ve never celebrated Oktoberfest, but it looks like a whole lotta fun. May have to give it a try one year.

  20. Gruff Guano says:

    Nice shirts!

Hey that reminds me of a joke:

The managers of Heineken, Corona and Jupiler are in a bar together. When asked what they want to drink, the manager of Heineken orders a Heineken lager, the manager of Corona orders a Corona lager, with a slice of lemon. And the manager of Jupiler orders a Coca Cola. The other managers are smirking about that, and ask the Jupiler manager why he doesn’t drink his own product. He says “well if you lot aren’t having a beer, then I won’t be either.”

    • bearman says:

I never heard of Jupiler. I have been on this stuff called Avalanche lately. It’s good for those of us in the east where they don’t ship Fat Tire out too.

  21. Ron-Yves says:

Dick jokes—they just never stop working 🙂

  22. SpilledInkGuy says:

    *oohmpa oohmpa …
    oohmpa oohmpa …*

    🙂

  23. WriterDood says:

Personally, I just like the beer. But I’d wear the shirt.
