Movie Poster – Nate Fakes of Knocking on Heavens Door
Long time Beartoons supporter Nate Fakes came up with this Doors Spoof Poster for his comic Knocking On Heavens Door. He along with comedian Tommy Blaze put out the sweetest webcomic you will ever come across (the complete opposite of what goes on here).
The cartoon centers on Spencer, a six year old, and his family. Spencers best friend is either God or he has an overactive imagination. The artists leave it up to you to decide.
BTW…want to compare Nate’s rendition to the real poster. Click here for the original Doors Poster.
Check back on Tuesday for Roland Perez of Metal Jaw Comics
Movie Poster – David and Brittany Adams of Slightly Off Topic
Todays Guest Movie Poster comes from Father/Daugther Team David and Brittany Adams of Slightly Off Topic. David writes and does the ink work and Brittany handles the hard stuff of actually doing the drawing. This take on Broadcast News should entice the Friggin Loon as it has her favorite L’il Kim (as in Jong Hill).
I asked David to describe Slightly Off Topic and this is what he (or actually Brittany – I thought she wasn’t the writer) had to say:
Slightly Off-Topic lives up to its name with few regular characters and a quirky world view. As a slice of life strip, it happily pokes fun at current events from politics to the iPad. While it is primarily a Gag-a-day format, sometimes short story arcs will continue over the course of several strips. Continuity can be a scary thing in the world of Slightly Off-Topic, but even then, there is sure to be something for everyone (kids and adults alike.) It is updated every Tuesday, Thursday, and Sunday, and the unique and quirky jokes are always fun. There is an annual contest in which the first reader to solve all the clues from each of the year’s Sunday comics (sometimes obvious, sometimes hidden) and report them wins a prize.
Check back on Sunday for a guest cartoon from Nate Fakes of Knocking on Heavens Door
Movie Poster – Carlo Jose San Juan of Callous Comics
Today’s guest movie poster is from Carlo Jose San Juan MD of Callous Comics. Yes that’s right MD. You would think a doctor who is used to scribbling nothingness on prescriptions wouldn’t have a steady enough hand to draw. But Carlo fools us all.
Callous comics is a story of Rianne, a relatively new doctor, who is helped through life by a group of guardian ducks. The main duck in her life is Cal, who seems to be going through his own growing pains as a guardian duck. The fact that she has guardian ducks is a great tie in with the Charlie’s Angels poster.
Check back Thursday for a new poster from David Adams of Slightly Off Topic
Movie Poster – Byron Wilkins of 1977 the Comic
Today’s movie poster is actually from a TV show (unless you count the horrible live action movie) but well within the rules. W. Byron Wilkins was one of the first to answer my last guest cartoon call back in the summer of ’09 and thankfully jumped back on the bandwagon again this year.
1977 is a cartoon about four friends in the late 70′s trying to make it big as a Rock and Roll band. Drinking, pot, sex, etc were all the rage in the 70′s (so I hear since I wasn’t old enough) and Byron captures the time well. Probably because he lived through it.
All I know is that if Velma on Scooby Doo looked like that, I might have watched that show a few more years.
Check in on Tuesday from a guest cartoon from Carlo of Callous comics
