12 16 09 Bearman Cartoon Happy PC Holidays

Personally I dont know which group irritates me more during the holidays.  The first group are those that force their employees to say Happy Holidays instead of leaving it up to the individual to say Happy Holidays, Merry Chistmas, or even Good Solstice.  The second group are those who call for boycotting retailers who decide to use Happy Holidays in their advertising instead of Merry Christmas.

Surprisingly the PC police haven’t caught onto the fact that the word Holiday stems from Holy Day.   I had many different things running through my head as to what to put on the sign the guy on the right is holding.  Then I figured I have some talented readers so I thought I would do a…

  1. David says:

    Merry Happy Chriskwahannukwhatsis Day!

  2. Bo Lumpkin says:

Hey, It’s that time of year. Buy Something.

  3. Danica says:

This isn’t an entry, but: if you get 10 extra non-frequent commenters, THEN the winner will get a prize?

  4. I think “Buy Something” does the trick pretty well. Honest and direct.

  5. frigginloon says:

    “Happy public holiday”

  6. “We invite you to enjoy, or not enjoy, the time of the year set aside for more lith feelings toward, or not toward, one another.”

  7. George says:

“Come enjoy our 25th of December savings!”

  8. jammer5 says:

    “THE END IS NEAR!”

MERRY CHRISTMAS CHEAP NAME BRAND WATCHES SOLD HERE!”

    HAPPY HOLIDAYS NO SMOKING!”

  9. G says:

    How ’bout:

Have a non-committed celebration of a joyous non-normal off day.

    or

Have a happy non-working day of merriment!

  10. Donald Mills says:

    “John 3:16”

    or

    “Go to Hell”

    or

“You just proved that Beartoon adversitising works.”

  11. It’s that time of year again!

  12. MidwestMom says:

I just wanted to say this ( for the sign) I know I can’t enter but..
Celebrate the season with mistletoe in your back pocket so the whole world can kiss your merry a$$

  13. “2010 might easily be worse.”

  14. “Happy, aahh, you know, Day…man”

  15. frigginloon says:

“7 days to New Year Sale”

    • That reminds me of the creepy Halloween Movie that they had the song “3 more days till Halloween Halloween Halloween, 3 more days till Halloween, Silver Shamrock”

  16. Bo Lumpkin says:

Can I enter twice? After standing in line 20 minutes last night to buy soap pads I think the sign should read,
“If you are willing to stand in line, we are willing to sell you stuff.”

  17. They say to celebrate and be merry
    Do or don’t…you choose

    • I think the only people that might offend are those who are not good at making decisions. They might stand around trying to figure out what they should do.

      • Uh oh, in that case it could offend a lot of people because there are a boat load (which is probably a severe understatement) of people who would just stand there dribbling out of their mouths twiddling their thumbs honestly not knowing what they should do until were told.

        • Then again that might work to your advantage as a retailer. A huge crowd stands in front of your sign and the real decision makers see it and say, “hmm there must be something good going on at that store. I’ll go check it out”

  18. Nef says:

We don’t care what you celebrate, as long as you celebrate… BUY NOW! Support our fledging economy!

  19. houseofmuses says:

I don’t even consider myself Christian, but I will say “Merry Freakin’ Christmas” if I want to. No politically correct over here.

  20. jbstuff says:

    this might work:

Marry remind chris about mas .

  21. Nate Fakes says:

    “Merappy Holistmas” (www.natefakes.com)

Did I win? Did I win?

  22. bschooled says:

“Please Do Not Touch, Lick, Stroke or Mount The Exhibit”

(Not that it relates much to your cartoon, mind you, I just think that “Engrish” signs are funny.)

  23. Danica says:

“Enjoy a mediocre commemoration of whatever you did this time last year.”

  24. “We humbly mention the possiblity of an upifting and light period of time taking place near the 25th of December.”
