Disney's First Black Princess

Some of my loyal readers might remember a few months back my lamenting the fact that there were no Black Superheroes on the big screen (See that post here). Well for those little girls who Disney princesses are a big thing, it seems the long wait for Disney to finally have a black princess is coming to an end. Tiana in the Princess and the Frog.
I am just happy Disney hasn’t given up completely on hand drawn big screen animated movies. Now the next big controversy will be that her prince is a white guy. But he isn’t white (at least in the classically defined state your race here confines). He is actually Brazilian (or at least Hispanic) since Bruno Campos is the voice of Prince Naveen and he purposefully is showcasing an accent. Either way the topic of interracial marriage will come up. I say baby steps. Soon we might actually see a King George Ford onscreen instead of just in his mind. (inside joke)

Beartoons.com instead of bearmancartoons.wordpress.com
Some of you may know that I have been doing my cartoons for about 3 years at the Cincinnati Beacon website. Wanting to expand beyond just simply posting editorial cartoons, I started this blog about six months ago. Knowing that I could still host my blog here but have my own domain name, I went to register bearmancartoons.com.
What???? It’s not available. Some dude had taken it six months ago. I think he found me on the web and thought I would be an upcoming famous sensation that would make him rich by owning the domain. All he had done is bought the domain and parked it so don’t bother seeing if he has a tribute to me on there. Well the jokes on you, because you are still paying for the domain and I am still not famous.
So I waited six months until his domain was set to expire and of course he renewed it. Of course I could have gone with bearmancartoons.net but eh.
So lucky for you and me, I got an even better URL – BEARTOONS.COM. Think how many characters I am saving on twitter posts.
Now for those of you linking to me, don’t worry, bearmancartoons.wordpress.com still works. However, eventually I may want to put advertising on my site so I would have to host it elsewhere. If you are one of those who have kindly linked to me in the past, if you have time to update your links to point to Beartoons.com (you can leave the title of the blog as Bearman Cartoons), I would appreciate it.

Intense Debate Comment Threading on WordPress.com blogs
So I am now one of the cool kids. I have been jealous of my friends who host their own blogs that they could have comment threading (sometimes known as Intense Debate) whereby you can respond to individual posts versus at the end.
I just assumed WordPress.com blogs didn’t have that option. Of course I was wrong thanks to a quick review of the support forum and info provided by the member thesacredpath who pointed me to this blog entry from wordpress.
From their post:
Go to Settings > Discussion in your dashboard, and you’ll discover three new options in the “Other comments settings” section:
- “Enable comments [x] levels deep”
- “Break comments into pages with [x] comments per page and the [first or last] page displayed by default”
- “Comments should be displayed with the [newer or older] comments at the top of each page”
With the threaded comments option, you can connect and interact with your readers while easily keeping track of who’s saying what to whom. You control the conversation by setting the number of levels allowed in your comment threads, from 1 to 10. (Ten levels deep means nine replies under each comment — that’s a lot!)
Hopefully in the next day or so, I’ll have another cool announcement that makes your visits easier and more pleasant…in the meantime back to work.

Bearman Cartoon: Mannequin Revisited
I am nothing if I don’t listen to my fan base. The other day I posted a cartoon about the Mannequin controversy at KT’s Barbecue in Cincinnati. Well according to George, Myra, and Ram, my choice of being modest and not drawing nipples would not go unnoticed. (Update: Add Robert J to the list of original requesters.)
And George thought it would have been funny if some kid erased the “M” off “Mass” to make it say “Ass”. I could only think of one kid who could be responsible. George Ford’s own Hank Addanac at AddanacCity.
So for all of you I give you the revamped toon.
